chapter 2

Edward (POV)

In state of Washington under constant cover of rain and clouds there is a town called forks population is 3,120 people this is where I'm moving to live with my mom her name is Renee she is chief of police

finally I landed and I'm looking for my mom but I can't see her anywhere
Someone tap behind me I turned back to see my mom Renee she was in uniform , she hugged me tightly jeez she's strong I wasn't able to catch my breath for a sec

"Edward how was your flight?" She asked
" It was long ride "I was bit tired

She smiled and helped me by carrying my bags and put in boot of car

We were in her police cruiser as we were going I noticed Nothing but deep, dark, green forests for miles. SWEEP DOWN,
finding the eerily dramatic Lake Crescent. Over it all hangs
the mist from the ever-present cloudy grey sky.
Everything is wet and green and drenched in shade..
FIND A TWO LANE HIGHWAY along which drives A POLICE CRUISER... - suddenly mom looked at me and said "your hair's are longer "

I really don't know what to say so I just replied "I haven't been to to saloon for long time "

"It's suits you ""How's your dad ?"
"Good" I replied
We both went silent neither she or I talked during whole ride soon we pass a SIGN: "The City Of Forks Welcomes You - Pop. 3246."
I sigh
Soon we reached home as soon as I got out I saw the house and I remember that I used to spend two weeks almost every summer here but it's been years
We took my bags one of my bag was really heavy but she lifted it like it weight nothing

The house isn't stylish
(the only new thing here is a Flat Screen T.V.), but it's comfortable, lived-in. Lots of fishing memorabilia; photos of Rene fishing with a woman

My eyes lands on a PHOTO of a much younger Mom and
Dad, on vacation, beaming with love

Handmade cards to "Mommy" and photos of me . I winces at
myself, age 7, in a tutu, sitting stubbornly on the ground.

"I Cleaned up some shelves of bathroom " she said

Suddenly It hit me

"oh! Right one bathroom "

As soon we enter room I noticed my childhood paintings was hanging on walls the room was repainted overall the room looks cozy the bed was in purple colour

"I've got bed cover and blankets in purple ,purple is your favourite colour right? "

" Purple is cool"

"The lamp is working perfectly , the laptop is connected to internet"

I nodded

She looked around huffed "Okay"and she left
one of the best thing about Rene is she knows when to give space ,

I placed my small cactus in table near laptop and sat on bed looking around

someone honked I guess someone is in hurry I heard my name is being called I go down stairs outside- A faded red Chevy pulls up and I find mom greeting the driver, they were two woman I guess they are mother and daughter

The two of them help the girl's mother, she was the women (from the photos), put her into a wheelchair

" Edward you rember billy black ?" mom asked

I smiled


BILLY

"Glad you're finally here. Renée hasn't shut up about it since you told her you were coming. "



Mom

"Keep exaggerating, I'll wheel you
down the hill. "



BILLY

" Right after I ram you in the ankles."


THIRD PERSON (POV )

" Billy takes several rolls at Renee, who dodges. Jackie shakes
her head at their two mothers as she shyly approaches Edward."

Edward (POV )

A tall mascular girl introduced herself

"Hi , I'm Jackie. We made mud pies
together when we were little kids."

"Yeah... I think I remember..."I don't want her to feel bad so i was about to change the topic I suddenly look at my mom and billy and I can't stop laughing

Are they always like this ? I asked

" It's getting worse with old age." She replied

Mom then pats the hood of the truck, addressing me

RENÉE

"So what do you think of your homecoming gift?"



EDWARD

" No way. The truck is for me?"

She points at truck " this is your homecoming present I just bought it from billy "

Jackie

"I rebuilt the engine and -"


"It's perfect!" I wasn't able to control my excitement

I sat on driver seat and Jackie sat on passenger seat ,

Jackie was guiding " you gotta double pump the clutch when you shift but - "

I can't wait so I just wait and started truck

"Maybe I can give you ride to school"

She looked at me nervously " I go to school on reservation"

I don't know what to say "Okay but it felt great if you were there too "

I can't believe I got my first car

I unpacks my CD case, loneliness finally overwhelms me . I sat heavily on
the edge of the bed, tears threatening , it was raining out side
I need to buy a jacket it's really cold here .

Tomorrow is my first day at forks high school I hope everything goes well
I was tired and I didn't know when I fall asleep.
