Veronica's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I realized it was the first day of school, I groaned at the thought. I jumped out of bed and ran to shower before my brother Justin could have a chance to. I put this on:

I then threw my hair into a ponytail and ran downstairs

I then threw my hair into a ponytail and ran downstairs. I grabbed an apple and started to eat it, waiting for Justin.

Justin came downstairs and didn't even acknowledge me.
"Um, excuse you," I said, waving my hand in his face.
"Shit- shit, sorry. You okay, Ronnie?" He asked, concerned. I worry about him sometimes. He zones out a lot.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just, you zoned out again," I said, looking down. He lifted my chin with his finger.
"I'm sorry, Ronnie. There's a lot on my mind. Let's go to school and have a good first day," he said, smiling. I smiled back as we walked out the door and into his car. Justin is my ride EVERYWHERE. You see, my doctor says I can't drive because of my high anxiety levels. Justin is only older than me by six months, putting us in the same grade. We do have different dads. Mom cheated on Justin's dad with my dad. Now she's single—biggest mistake of her life. Also best, because she wouldn't have me if she didn't cheat. Once we got to the school, Justin hopped out and opened the door for me. I smiled at him and climbed out, shutting the door behind me. Suddenly, I heard one of Justin's friends.
"Damn, Justy Wusty. Getting some from your sister?" Bryce Walker said, smirking. I HATE Bryce with a burning passion. Justin knows that.
"Seriously, Walker. Can you not make incest jokes?" Justin says, clearly irritated.
Bryce laughs. "Sorry, man. It's just, who opens the door for women anymore?"
"Gentlemen," I said, death staring Bryce.
"Didn't mean to make you mad, princess," Bryce said.
"That's enough, Bryce," Justin said, angrily.

Morning classes went by quick. Now, lunch. I grabbed a sandwich and a water and ran over to my table. Sheri, Hannah, Jess, and Alex. Alex doesn't really like talking to the boys more than he has to, so he doesn't. We have this thing—FML Forever.
"Male," I said, looking at Alex. "Females," I said, looking at the girls.
"Female," Alex said, quietly. I raised my eyebrow.
"What's wrong, Alex?" I asked. Jess, Hannah, and Sheri stopped their conversation, looking over at us with concerned faces.
"I just- FML Forever," he said. I giggled. I was about to respond, when Bryce fucking Walker came over to our table.
"Male. Females," he said, mocking us.
"What the fuck do you want, Bryce?" I asked, harshly.
"Just wanted to know which one of you dolls would like to come to my place to have some fun tonight," he said smirking. I literally almost spit out my water.
"No one is interested," Sheri said, and rolled her eyes.
"Maybe Veronica here would like to. Prissy prude by day, freak in the sheets by night, eh?" He asked, chucking. I looked down nervously. I got a lump in my throat. Usually, Justin would help me, but his lunch period is after mine. My friends were about to say something, when suddenly, one of Justin's friends spoke up.
"That's quite fucking enough, Walker," he said, looking at Bryce in disgust. He was hot. Definitely my type. I smiled up at him as Bryce walked away.
"Hey, can I talk to you?" He asked me. I looked at my friends and they nodded, so I went.
"So, who might you be?" I asked, when we got into the hallway.
"Before I tell you my name, I'm not an asshole."
"Okay... go ahead."
"I'm Montgomery de la Cruz. Monty."
