Percy POV
"Hey Mom!" I yelled into the apartment. "I'm back!" Mom came out from the kitchen and she was holding Estelle on her hip.
"Hey Percy!" she said kissing my cheek. She hugged Annabeth and said, "I was going to make blue coo-"
"BLUE COOKIES!!!!???" I asked, suddenly super excited.
My mom smiled. "I was wondering if you two wanted to make them."
Oh. "Um... so... ya see..." I started.
"What?" my mom asked raising her eyebrows.
"Yeah.. ummmmm..."
"What Percy's trying to say is, the last time he baked, we built sturdy houses with his cupcakes because they were as hard as the average rock." she paused for a moment. "We also had to get a new oven that Rachel's dad unknowingly paid for."
My mom laughed. "Annabeth will keep the kitchen safe. And Annabeth, when you say unknowingly, did Percy or the Stolls steal the money?" she asked accusingly.
"Rachel told her dad that her summer camp needed a new oven. He's been trying to be nice to her, so he bought a cheap oven. Leo's messing with it right now."
Annabeth walked into the kitchen calling behind her, "We won't blow anything up!"
Did I mention that stuff never works out?
Annabeth took out a recipe and looked at the ingredients and I got them from the pantry as she read them out loud. An beautiful idea struck me. Mom had just bought a bunch of flour (like 3 bags) to make my birthday cake. And Paul's birthday cake. And she was already running low. And it was on sale. So was to blue food dye. And the- sorry.
"Flour, sugar, egg whites, blue-
THUMP.
Flour flew into the air like a cloud. "SEAWEED BRAIN!" my girlfriend yelled. A minute later the flour cloud faded and the half-empty bag lay on the floor next to her. She crouched and grabbed a handful of flour and threw it at me. I ducked, but it's flour, so it still got on me.
Annabeth POV
My stupid Seaweed Brain. I threw a fistful of flour and it got on him, even though he ducked, because it's flour. He retaliated, and I ducked too, but I crept around the counter, praying Percy wouldn't see me. He didn't.
"Hey Wise Girl, where'd ya go?" he asked. I didn't answer. Duh. He stepped over the flour bag and peered over the counter. He was in the perfect spot. I reached out and grabbed the bag, stood up and tapped his shoulder.
Percy whirled around. "Right here." I said and dumped the entire bag on his head.
"Hey!" he cried. "I was gonna do that."
"Yeah." I said. "Totally."
He nodded for emphasis. I didn't believe him. I kissed him and peered over the paper while he wiped flour off of his body. We kept working and exploding stuff.
TIME SKIPPY!!!
Sally POV (Surprise!)
Annabeth came out of the kitchen dragging Percy by the arm. The were laughing, both covered in flour, and I smiled, loving that my son was happy.
"Hello Mrs. Jackson!" Annabeth said.
She was really kind and polite and the most level-headed demigod in the world. "Call me Sally." I said.
"So." Annabeth said. "You're going to need to get new beaters, new eggs, more flour and a bunch of other stuff. We'll pay in free strawberries."
Gods I thought. What did they do?
Seeing my face Annabeth handed me the blue cookie she was holding. "Try it." she urged. I bit into it and it was the sweetest, gooiest, most delicious cookie I had ever had. "That's amazing Annabeth." I said when I finished.
"Thanks." she said. "Come on Seaweed Brain, we've got to go clean up and then get Sally her strawberries."
"Wise Girl, can't you do it?" Percy whined.
"Yes. You're helping me though."
Percy groaned and followed her into the kitchen.
"She's got him wrapped around her little finger." Paul said. I nodded and said, "She's taller than you though, so not little finger."
Paul laughed and kissed me.
