"You build walls to fortify your heart, and blame others for your loneliness. Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down." — Toba Beta & Anonymous.
Brent's POV
The morning sun flowed into the room and I rolled to the other side of the bed to keep the rays from entering my slumberous eyes. I just wasn't ready to get up. I groaned and stretched out my stiff limbs. I couldn't tell if I had slept well or I had only closed my eyes for a few minutes.
My mind was wide awake and already active, conjuring a thousands thoughts per second but my body was the complete opposite — inactive and immobile. I had worked my butt off the previous day at the bar coupled with the fact that we traveled for over four hours to get to Ravel hill and Drew and I didn't go to bed till the wee hours of the morning. We had found the girls passed out on top of each other and Drew carried Rachel off to their suite while I was left with the task of tucking Sam in properly. Sam...
"Hey," Drew peeped in through the door. "Get your ass up, man. We have a lot to do today. Meeting in about an hour."
"Ugh... Got it." I groaned.
The door closed shut and the room fell silent once again. I rolled onto my back and stared blankly at the gypsum ceiling. I willed my unresponsive body to get up and get ready for the day. It finally obeyed after a few more minutes of going back and forth. I rushed my bathroom session, brushing my teeth with no zeal and only spending minutes in the shower. I put on simple clothes of sweats and an old T-shirt and made my way to the dining area. I couldn't find anyone in the dining room. The housekeeper informed me that they already had their breakfast and were out in the yard. I ate my food hurriedly and went out to join them.
"... okay I think the main wedding area should go here. This space is big enough to fit whatever style we decide on. The stage would be at that side. The chairs would go there, the aisle over there, maybe some flower pots or a big vase, not sure, but there'd be flowers somewhere in the mix. I noticed that the sun comes from that side in the morning which is around the time for the service so the pictures would come out great. Then the reception area would go over there..." she pointed to the far right. "I want it to be as far away as possible from the main wedding area so people can focus on the wedding service and not get distracted by the decor or the view. Over there, that lake... hmm... I think I want to do something with it but I don't quite know yet. I would've suggested a lake wedding but it could be distracting so I'm kinda thinking we..." she trailed off.
"... oh shit! I have the perfect idea! The reception would go by the lake! I can just picture it in my head. It'll look amazing! I'll look up images to help you guys understand. The chairs would go there with the tables and then some cute lights. The dance floor would go right in the center. I promise you it'll look so good. Next up, the stall for vendors..." Sam rambled on.
I was lost. Drew stood to her right side, his arms folded on his chest, and Rachel to her left, neither of the couple making any sound. I made my presence known by whistling. It caught Drew's attention as he turned to look at me. He backed up discreetly until he was at my side.
"Hey. What the hell is going on? Y'all are standing like you're receiving orders or something." I asked.
Drew chuckled. "It does seem like it though. Morning by the way."
"Yeah." I nodded in Sam's direction. "What is she doing?"
"Shh... lower your voice. Don't want you messing up her flow," he held a finger to his lips. "She's been in that spot for almost an hour pointing out where stuff would go. Her brain is working at top speed right now. It's amazing."
