"You know I'm not gonna force you to get a costume and dress up, right?" Delilah asked Jae quietly.

It was about 7pm and they'd just finished eating at a cute little restaurant in Beverly called The Teacup.

Delilah's head was resting on the back of the surprisingly comfy, cushiony seats in his Lamborghini, her legs tucked under her chin, and her body was facing him. She'd slipped off her flip-flops and her toes curled into the material beneath her.

Jae had told her off, but she gave him her puppy dog expression and told him if they got pulled over by the police, which she doubted, she'd sort out the situation.

"It's not you I'm worried about."

Jae's blue eyes were focused on the road like a good little trooper, and he only chanced quick fleeting glances at her every so often.

She sighed heavily, "Chelsea won't say anything if I tell her not to push it. You know how she is, she just wants some fun."

He hummed at her.

"Are you mad?"

Jae smiled, glancing at her and chuckling lightly. "Why would I be mad?"

She shrugged and reached out to play with the lining of his black button up.

Jae sighed quietly. This Delilah was the one he was glad he could see. He was sure that not even Chelsea saw it, as she had to keep up her tough girl exterior even in front of the bubbly brunette.

"When are you staying till?" She asked as Jae pulled into her neighborhood. She recognised the Bramble's excessive palm-tree style garden, which was just down the street from her house.

He checked the time on the dashboard, as the numbers blinked 7:08pm in a luminous green.

"Till 8, I guess." Jae was never definitive with his decisions. She guessed the real time he would leave would be about 8:45.

She nodded along. "Okay."

Delilah slipped her feet into her flip-flops and grabbed the smoothie cup from the drink holder that was between their seats. She opened the car door and the warm air was a delight to her.

"You know, you totally should have gotten one of these," she spoke while her lips were wrapped around the straw, making Jae's brows furrow as he tried to decipher her words.

"Oh...kay?" He asked, laughing.

Her stomach rumbled in silent laughter and they shut each door, with Jae locking the car, and walked up to the few white stone steps to the huge house.

She opened the door and they walked in a comfortable silence, when a figure walked in from the back of the room, past the stairs.

"Della!" The voice shouted. The blonde's breathing caught in her throat.

"Dad!" She squealed.

Delilah dropped the strawberry smoothie onto the passing glass table in the entrance and ran, flip-flops and all, up to the man.

"Hey, princess," he caught her, as she launched herself into him, and kissed the top of her head, smiling broadly. "What took you so long to get home?"

She smiled up at him with clear adoration. "Mrs M said you wouldn't be back till later tonight! I was expecting you home at, like, 1am."

"Have you never heard of a surprise?" He teased her, and she rolled her eyes with a smile.

Wayne Glover was a very handsome man. At 40, he still had a face and body of a model. He had dark, short wavy hair and blue irises in big, round-shaped eyes, a straight nose with a set of high cheekbones and a strong, oval jaw. And when he smiled, he showed both sets of teeth behind his almost purply-pink lips. It was a natural, attractive smile that had bowled over women since he had hit puberty.
