Falling Out of Love

11 3 2

We danced with the autumn breeze
And kissed deeply into the moonlight
Thinking nothing would go wrong
When nothing ever felt right.

The happiness we shared
Was only made of fleeting colours
Painted on the canvas
Of our fantastical desires.

But as the leaves began to fall
And blossoms were blown away
The wind sang a different song
Of false joy that can't be saved.

At first I thought it was cruel
For life to flourish at its greatest
Then wither away; the pretty shades
The lie of an optimist.

But when you took my hands
And cried into my shoulder
I realized that inevitably
We change when we grow older.

No one is to blame
For us to have fallen apart
Though it hurts to see you go
At least we won't lie to each other's hearts.

Just like the shifting seasons
Nothing ever stays the same
Change is nature's way
Of balancing both joy and pain.

Don't worry, have comfort
That someday, love will come again
Remember to always move forward
And lasting happiness the world will send.

I don't usually write romantic poems, and to write such a structured poem is even rarer. But this was written for a prompt, I believe, and I remember being proud of it so I thought I'll put here. Especially because it's not a super depressing poem. Unlike the others.
