Patton grabbed the last box out of the moving van and gazed at his and Logans new house. The house was close to both of their jobs and they had got a good deal on it. It was a family sized home, with a spare bedroom for when they decided to have children. They both knew they wanted children and their jobs were both centred around helping children, Patton being a social worker and Logan a teacher. The street they moved on had a mixture of old and new houses, them moving into one of the newer ones. On one side of them was also a new build but Patton could tell that the other side was an old house (it could do with a new paint job, in his opinion). He walked towards the open door and into his house where his husband was placing a box down on the floor. "is that the last box?" Logan said. "Yup!" Patton replied, walking over to Logan and wrapping his arms around him. Logan returned the embrace and stated "we've got a lot of unpacking to do". "Yes but first we need a break, lets have lunch," Patton replied handing Logan a jar of crofters jam. "Thanks Pat," Logan exclaimed and rushed over to the table, where they had placed their food and he took out a slice of bread and started making himself a sandwich.

TIME SKIP

After a long day of unpacking, they were halfway done but as Logan said, it was necessary for them to get a full nights sleep if they wanted to get the rest done tomorrow, so they went into the master bedroom got ready for bed. Later, when they were lying in bed, Patton gently shook Logan and whispered that he could hear a wailing sound coming from next door. Logan sleepily replied, "Our neighbours probably have got a dog or pet of some kind, I'm sure that it will stop howling soon". That reassured Patton but he still wasn't entirely convinced. "strange sounding dog" he murmured before falling asleep. Logan smiled softly at Patton before falling asleep himself.

THE NEXT DAY

At 7am their alarm went off and Logan immediately got up and persuaded Patton to as well. "We need to finish unpacking by the end of today if we want to go back to work on Monday without the stress of unpacking" Patton groaned and rolled out of bed. "I guess you're right Logie, as always," he grinned and planted a kiss on Logans cheek. Logan blushed but he tried to hide it by leaving the room to get ready for the day. After freshening up they carried on tidying and putting things away until it was finally starting to feel like their home. While eating lunch, Patton suddenly exclaimed "we should get a dog! It can be friends with the one next door!" Logan sighed "you're allergic, remember?" Patton did not. "oh yeah". Logan couldn't bare to see him upset so he quickly said "but why don't we get a different animal? One you're not allergic to like a tortoise or a fish!" Patton immediately brightened up "yes yes yes absolutely". Suddenly the doorbell rung. "Who's that?" Logan asked. "It's Janus!" Patton exclaimed "I asked him to come round and help us unpack." Logan protested "Patton you know he confuses me.." Patton started to leave to answer the door "He's just a little sarcastic, plus he could be a really big help" he said while opening the door. "Its horrible to see you", the man at the door smiled. "Janus!" Patton yelled and gave him a hug "its nice to see you too!" he replied. "So is he happy to see us or not?" Logan wondered as Janus walked into their house. He gave him a handshake as a welcome.

With the three of them helping, they managed to finish way before Logans schedule. "This is great!" Patton said "now we have time to introduce ourselves to our neighbours!" "Lets bake them pies" was his after thought and he told Janus and Logan and they helped him to make them. They finished around 45 minutes later and the three of them walked over to the newer house next door. A young man answered the door and a young girl peeped out from behind his leg. "Hello" Logan begun "we just moved in next door and wanted to introduce ourselves" "WE MADE YOU A PIE" Patton yelled and handed the man the pie. Taken aback by his enthusiasm the man grinned and yelled for his wife to come and meet the new neighbours. He introduced his daughter and the group of them talked for a while. "They were lovely" Patton grinned "weren't they lovely Logan?" "yes they were" Logan replied and they walked to their other next door neighbours. Janus rang the doorbell but no sound came out from it so he knocked on the door but nobody came to the door. "maybe they're not in?" he suggested but Patton insisted they knock again. After waiting a few more minutes finally they heard footsteps and the door creaked open a slither, just enough for a gaunt looking woman with thin, greasy hair and a cigarette in her hand to poke her head out. "what do you want?" she frowned. Logan began his introduction again "Hello, we just moved in next door and we baked you a pie as a way to introduce ourselves" The woman took the pie from Pattons hands and slammed the door in their face. "now that wasn't very nice" Patton stated as the three of them walked back to Logan and Pattons house. "theres something very suspicious about that woman," Janus said. "Yes," Logan agreed, "Why didn't she open the door more? Why did it take her so long to get to the door? Why didn't she thank us?" They had reached their house by now and they went inside. "maybe she was just nervous around new people?" Patton suggested. "No." Logan replied "I have a feeling theres something much worse going on, did you hear any sign of a dog for starters?" "A dog?" Janus questioned. "yeah we heard a weird sounding howl coming from her house last night which sounded like a dog" Patton explained. "there was definitely no dog in that house now. I have a dog and every time someone is at the door she runs to it straight away" Janus confirmed. Then suddenly Patton shushed him and told everyone to listen. "I can hear the howling again" he whispered. Logan listened and stated "that's not a dog, that's a child crying"
