Her entire world narrowed only to those words, that raspy voice. The nightmares she'd had so many nights crashed back into her mind, barged through that door she'd pushed them behind, like a tidal wave crashing on a beach.
She was seeing red, as fear and anger and a protectiveness rose in her being and her magic heated and thrummed in her veins.
Before she knew what she was doing, Ciana dove forward, faster than the wind, pushing Lorcan aside, plunging the dagger she had always strapped on her thigh through the creature's shoulder, into the wall behind.
It screamed and laughed at the same time. "That's the reaction I'd hoped for," it hissed.
Ciana growled in its face and felt Lorcan step closer, but she lifted her hand. "DON'T, you dare Lorcan." She snarled fiercely.
"I'll take it from here."Ciana brought her face immensely close to the hissing silhouette. Probably closer then was safe, but she didn't care. Because all she saw were those Ravens from her dream, eating and eating from him.
"You're gonna listen to me," she commanded, her voice filled with fire and rage, with dominance.
"I am going to burn you, I am going to melt your organs out of your body, I am going to mark you, do you hear me? You will talk to me, answer all I want to know."
"And why would I?" It hissed, the stench of molten flesh entering her nostrils.
"Because I am the Fire wielder and there's no flame hotter than mine. So believe me when I say, you'll scream. You'll scream till your throat is raw and your flesh is falling from your skin.
Will you answer?""No."
A smile broke from her lips as she ignited a simmering hot flame in her hand and jammed it in the eye socket of the creature.
It cried harder than it had done with Lorcan, and Ciana felt an euphoric feeling enter her being."What are you?"
"I-""Yes?" She pushed further and felt the melting flesh against her fingertips.
"We're created. We're..."
Ciana pushed further, calling for more flames that simmered inside his belly, just like Ciana ordered.
"By the Wyrd," she heard Lorcan whisper.
"God damnit, I am a soldier of the Burning night."
Ciana pulled her hand back, but kept the flames burn hot and bright in its abdomen.
"What's your goal?" She commanded as she stood up, looking down on the weeping creature.
"Death, destruction. All that's darkness."
"Why?"
"I can't...."Ciana made a Speer of blue blazing flames. "Wanna end up with this in your heart, huh? Talk!"
The creature weeped, as his organs melted, dripped through the holes in his body, on the floor.
"It hurts."
"It's meant to hurt. Now, why?""Revenge on them. Revenge for them."
It whispered.
