Jingfei arrived to where the location was texted to her. Before she entered the coffee shop, she exhaled. It wasn't necessarily because it made her nervous; it hurt her pride. As soon as she walked in, she could tell by the person's back; he was the one she wanted to see.
"Based on the tone of your voice, it sounded like you were very serious about this favor." Doyoung replied with his hands intertwined on the table.
"Don't make fun of me. Now's not the time." Jingfei wasn't up for playing games at the moment.
"You want to order something first?" Doyoung understood her seriousness and proceeded to act like it. His talent of course was being able to read the situation.
"No, I'll just get straight to the point." Jingfei paused as she thought about how to mention her situation to Doyoung without spoiling too much. If he did help her, he'd eventually find about a part of her past. "This is a personal request, so I'll put my trust in you to help me."
Doyoung stayed silent in order to let her continue. If her request was too difficult to comply to, of course he couldn't do it. He wasn't the type to make false promises either.
"I want you to help me find out about my father's mysterious death. I tried myself, but it's difficult finding documents when I barely have someplace to start." Fei sighed. "I originally didn't want to ask you, but I don't know anyone better than you." Suddenly she felt embarrased to rely on him so simply.
Doyoung looked at Jingfei in the eyes to make sure it wasn't a trap like last time. She was the reason why he became more cautious of others and their true intentions. After pondering for a few seconds, he finally thought of his answer. "I'll help you."
"Wait really?" Jingfei was expecting a rejection and was surprised to see that it was an acceptance.
"Of course. Just on one condition."
"Sure, anything." Her eyes lightened in hopefulness.
"Don't hack into my things anymore. I have trust issues because of you now." He couldn't help but slightly frown.
"Okay I promise. Let's call ourselves even and start on a new clean slate." Jingfei smiled as she stuck out her pinky finger.
"Isn't that childish? Pinky promise between two adults?"
"Just do it." She grabbed his hand, took his pinky, and intertwined them together. "If there's no contract, this is our mutual form of agreement."
