You only live once

That is the sentence I live by. Why might you ask am I at a party right now instead of studying or something. Because, you do only live once. And I plan to make the most out of it. Seventeen isn't a very exciting age, it like all the others. But I will make senior year a blast. Even if I fail because chemistry is a bitch.

And here I am, living, drunk as a skunk. My boyfriend is probably upstairs, tongue inside another girls mouth. But what do I care. I knew it was over before it began.

It wasn't yet time to panic, there was at least time to salvage the situation. At least that's what I'm telling myself. Vomiting would be the worst thing to happen right now. Especially on Mark Layman's carpet. But who cares. Being the prettiest, most fun girl in Waterville High has perks. I'm not some blonde haired blue eyed idiot. More like a brown haired brown eyed daredevil.

As I recall my parents told me next time I blackout I'll be grounded for 2 months. Whatever it's not like they are home anyway. Between work and trips out of state, they are never home.

You only live once

Shots burn down my throat, used to the pain I take three more. As dizzy as it makes me comfort comes too.

You only live ones

Two more

You only live once

You only live once

3:00 am

I wake up at home. Unsure about how I got there, but glad to be safe. I pull up my phone. 3:00. The witching hour. My head kills me as I try to get up. Walking around the house I find that no one is home. Breaking into the cabinet I grab the ibuprofen and some brandy to wash it down. Massive headaches, dizziness. Nothing out of the ordinary. I pour myself some brandy and pop a pill in my mouth. Relief fills me up. But I'm sure that's from the brandy. Only living once has its perks. My throat can already feel the burn as I start pouring more into my glass. Chugging it all I put the ibuprofen away. Dizziness takes hold. Nothing out of the ordinary.

This weird taste abruptly comes to my mouth. Gagging I run for the toilet.

I've had 2 drinks why am I puking.

I start to shiver. Suddenly getting very cold. What is happening?

Don't be scared. What's happening to you is unknown. But this isn't scary in its self. You are just scared of the unknown. If I don't list them as scary right now, I won't be as fearful.

Where am I? It's so cold

Where am I? It's so cold. And dark.

I look all around me, trying to find some source of light. Scrambling up I reach for what looks like a window.

It's boarded up?

This most definitely isn't my house. Panic courses through me. Grabbing at the boards I pull as hard as I can. I heard the impact before I felt it. Pain rushed through the side of my face knocking  me to the ground. Someone had struck me across the face!

"Who's there!?" I say trying to sound brave. I fail.

No response. Which seems almost worse then any response I could have come up with. I start to scream for help banging on the walls and floor. Sobbing and shaking so hard I might puke. I hear a banging coming from the other side of the room. I crawl into what feels like the corner. Shaking violently. A piece of the wall breaks and flickering light shines through. Hands start to claw at the wall, which is starting to look more like a door. A shadowy figure climes through the hole.

"Are you ok?" The shadow says. Sounds like a girl.

"W-who are you."

"My name is Lila Ashton. I heard your screams and I came to help." The shadow says rushing over to me. The closer she gets the more I am able to identify her. Her hair looks like a rats nest and blood leaks from her arm. She sticks out her hand to lift me up.

"Thank you. I'm-

"Sara Keeton!?" The shadow, Lila gasps.

"How do you know that." I say swiping my hand away from her.

"We go to school together. Waterville high."

I do recognize her. Probably only from passing through the halls.

"Yeah, I've seen you around."

"I don't mean to sound rude and change the subject but where in gods name are we?"

"I was about to ask you the same thing. You came to help me after all."

"We need to find a way out of here. Fast."

"Couldn't agree more. Lead the way I suppose."
