Willow tied the saddle on the tree and sat beside the horse after he settled. She slowly caressed his mane as she submerged herself in deep thoughts.

If I were to choose, I'd rather not involve myself with them again. On that time, I'm the one in the wrong, the antagonist of their life. I don't particularly hate them for my misfortunes but I can't just forget the cold treatment I got after succeeding the crown. Specially Lucrose, I didn't expect any love in return but don't I deserve a respect as his equal?

It's my greed that started all of this resulting for me to forfeit my life. I grieved in silence after relieving my unexpected end. Is it a blessing to be captured by those shady people?

Overall, it started when I entered the academy as a mage. Due to my affinity, people feared me but he's different. He is the crown prince of the empire and he gets along with everyone. He had this cheery atmosphere that makes you want to be at his side with all cost. He doesn't discriminate and is accepting of everyone.

That's why when he started tagging along with me, I started to be curious. When I asked why he talks to me, he simply said "Having a dark magic doesn't mean you'll use it for evil. In reality, it's a very powerful magic that would surely benefit the empire if it's utilized carefully. The point is, you're still you even with or without magic. It's your choice to be feared or to be awed" He lectured.

As a fool, I took his kind words as passionate advice and let myself fall for him. Looking back, those are just friendly advice and I took advantage of his kindness to get close with him.

A year had passed and the academy accepted another batch of mages. This is when he met her. At first, he was only intrigued with the new student who has an affinity with the light but as stereotypical as it may, they started to develop feelings for each other.

Green with envy, I made her suffer as opportunities arise but this only made the prince irritated. He confronted me but I only denied and asked for evidences.

As a kind spirit, instead of getting mad, he tried to persuade me to stop my followers from harassing her lover but I didn't do anything. He started distancing himself but I took his actions for granted. I never made them stop until he, himself, asserted his power to everyone.

This is his first time doing this and we were all astonished at his threat.

From then on, no one tried to do anything funny to Adelaide and they started to befriend her instead. We graduated from the academy but prince Lucrose, never talked to me again.

In dismay, I obediently followed father's order and won the candidacy without a hunch. Even when Lucrose were strongly against it, there's no way for his lovely lover, a daughter of a baron, to join. That's how large the gap of status was.

Later on, everything went according to plan but the prince's hate grew more. I thought he would soon accept me as time passed by, but I thought wrong. Even when I become the empress, he made Adelaide the queen and rejected my existence.

Years passed, but there was still no heir to the throne. The council grew more restless so they pleaded him that it's time to bear for a prince. At that time, I can still remember how he stared at me in disgust. He probably thought that it's one of my schemes again.

After a few weeks, he visited my chamber. He's completely drunk but one thing's for sure. During that time, he drilled in my soul that this was all for the sake of the council. That I should be thankful that he even spared some time with a vicious woman as myself. After that night, I drown myself in sorrow. I decided to correct my wrong doings but it was all too late.
