"Ow!" Evangeline said as she landed hard on the sand that covered the Equestrian area.
It was her second time falling from Windbreaker (the horse she was riding).
It wasn't any fair for Evangeline because she had been taking lessons ever since 8th grade and was pretty good at horseback riding.
Unfortunately, not today.
Ever since Evangeline had entered the Spring Garaden's University horse stables she had been given nasty looks of betrayal.
And to top it off she had no friends that Evangeline knew that rode.
"Ibv rode Windbreaker before and he was never that mean to me. Maybe it's you?" A girl named Bella said, smirking.
Bella was one of those girls who was popular in everything she did and who thought she was better than everyone. Evangeline had learned that in the first five minutes she had entered the stables.
Sadly, nobody had stood up for Evangeline who someone who got bullied by girls like Bella.
Bella wore a collared navy polo, tight white riding pants, and high shiny black boots. Her outfit didn't have a spot of sand or mud on it, surprisingly.
Evangeline felt a pang of discomfort knowing that she hadn't dressed for riding. She had on the same sweatshirt she had on all day but changed into tight black pants and very muddy brown boots.
Meanwhile, there were two other people in the area, warming up by walking their horses by the fence and occasionally trotting.
"It was a shame that you chose to perform in the nasty band instead of performing in shows with us. At least you're still in the class, but I doubt for long." Bella said, sliding her pure white horse up against Windbreaker, Evangeline's horse.
Evangeline didn't say anything to Bella, not wanting to start a fight. Evangeline wasn't that type of person.
Finally, a man entered the area. Evangeline guessed that he was the class instructor since he had a crop but no horse and was young.
"Gather your horses around me, please." The man said in a clear voice.
Bella galloped her horse over to their instructor and Evangeline heaved a sigh of relief.
As soon as everyone was in front of the instructor, he spoke,
"Welcome to your first Equestrian class led by me. My name's Oliver Greenwood and this year you will learn how to control your horse for jumping or cross country. Even if you won't be participating in competitions" Oliver said, eyeing Evangeline.
"I'm sure all of you had already warmed up since you had plenty of time. Now line up your horses in front of that first jump." Oliver's face hadn't changed a bit as he said all this. His sculpted jawline hard and his bottle-green eyes never softening.
"Excuse me, Mr. Greenwood, but shouldn't we introduce ourselves to you and our classmates? Since you know we don't know each other." A girl said on a midnight black horse.
"What is your name?" Mr.Greenwood said, frowning.
"Bree. Bree Winerlinck." The girl said. Bree had a southern accent when she talked and looked very confident in speaking out of line.
"Well, Ms. Winerlinck, you are in college. We do not introduce ourselves like we are in kindergarten. I will learn all of your names in time. If you impress me or disgrace me, either way, I will learn your name." Their instructor addressed everyone now.
"Now I don't like to repeat myself twice but since some people are immature then I have to. Line up." Bree didn't even seem embarrassed as Mr. Greenwood said this. If she did Evangeline couldn't tell because of her beautiful dark skin.
