Violin Boy
1868
"Señorita Seirra, hinanap na po kayo ng iyong ina."
The little girl just smiled at the servant her mother sent to call her. She was busy looking down from their balcony, watching and listening to the sound of the violin from a boy.
"Señorita Seirra, tinatawag na po kayo ng inyong ina."
The little girl raised her right hand to make the servant stop from speaking. Being born with a silver spoon in mouth, she already heard a lot of musicians making beautiful music. But none of them were as young as the boy she was watching.
"Kilala mo ba iyong lalaki?" Seirra asked the servant, Lani, sweetly.
Servant Lani shook her head, "Hindi po, Señorita. Kung gusto niyo po ay puntahan ko siya sa ibaba at--"
Seirra was alarmed when she heard their servant's suggestion, making her jump a little. She did not know why she reacted like that.
"Huwag!" Little Seirra held Lani's wrist and pulled it gently toward the door while she was taking a one last look to the boy, who makes beautiful music.
"Nagugutom na pala ako," Seirra said with a small smile on her lips. But God knew how she wanted to go back and continue watching the boy.

"What took you so long, Seirra?"
Seirra took a seat, reached for the glass, and sipped her water, obviously ignoring her mother, Mrs. Kara Amorsolo. Kara leaned slowly on her seat as she watched her daughter. Despite her expressionless face, she felt pain and pity for her daughter.
"Seirra, your tutor will arrive this afternoon. Please do not waste her time over nonsense things. Do you understand?"
The little girl gave her mother a nod. You always wanted me do things without asking me first what I really like, Seirra thought. But she would never say that to her mother.
"Ma, how about a lesson for violin? I want to learn music," Seirra asked her mother, while praying for her mother to finally let her do what she wanted.
"You are not going to play any musical instruments and that's final."After finishing her food, Kara stood and left her sad daughter in the dining room. My daughter, please understand your mother, she wanted to tell her daughter but she just couldn't.
After her mother left, Seirra got off the elegant chair and went back to the balcony. She was disappointed when she found the boy was gone.
"Hindi ko man lang nalaman ang pangalan niya," Seirra whispered. Her little hands were on her chin, supporting her little face while she was dreamingly looking down.
"Dashi Martinez."
Seirra looked at the door and saw the servant Lani, smiling so brightly. Seirra's eyes widened. She immediately ran towards Lani and reached for the servant's wrist to pull her down.
"Tinanong mo ang pangalan niya?"
The servant nodded, "Napansin ko po kasing gusto niyong pinapakinggan ang musika ng bata. Pasensya na po kung ayaw niyo--"
With a smile, Seirra hugged Servant Lani. And said, "Thank you!"
