Sweet Mistake

1878, Escolta

Kara was looking curiously at her daughter who was facing the mirror. It was the first time she saw her daughter staring at her own reflection in the mirror for too long. Some part of her wanted to come near her and comb her daughter's silky, black long hair. But she decided to stay where she was hiding.

It was her who brought the curse, that misfortune. It was her who let Seirra see the world and regret it afterwards. Seirra was her mistake, her sweet mistake.

Sometimes she thought she was so evil for having her, for making an innocent suffers in her latter life. She didn't want it. She loved her daughter so much. She would never complicate the situation for Seirra.

"Ma?"

Seirra looked at her mother who was blankly staring at her.

"I--I just want to remind you that your tutor will be here, together her son, Dashi," the excuse of Kara, who was avoiding her daughter's suspicious eyes.

Seirra smiled broadly when she heard Dashi's name. She really prepared for this day. She even bought a new dress, actually she asked her mother to buy her a new dress.

She was all smiles while imagining herself in the living room, waiting for her favorite violinist, Dashi. Before her mother could say another word, she went outside her room to do what she planned.

She sat down comfortably and laid her hands--which she hoped would touch Dashi's lips--on her lap.

"Ate, pwede niyo po ba akong sabihan kung nasa labas na ang aking mga bisita?" Seirra asked one of their servants.

"Masusunod po," the servant answered while looking down.

She continued her daydreaming again. This time, she imagined a grown-violin boy. The same boy she imagined she would marry someday. The boy that made her sleep peacefully at night. She remembered every details of the piece Dashi played in front of their house.

"Señorita, papasok na po ang guro niyo," she heard the servant said.

Seirra sat straight on the couch. Nervously, combing her hair using her hands. But decided to lay her hands back on her lap. And back to her hair. And finally decided to forget her plan of making a good first impression.

She stood and ran towards the main door. She hasn't yet reach the door when smiling Mrs. Leanor entered the house.

"Guro!" she excitelly called her future mother-in-law.

She was about to hug her tutor when a boy at her age showed up. She felt her body stiffened as if the earth stopped rotating on its axis.

The knotted-forehead violin boy entered the house very slowly. He was carrying the familiar violin. She felt like she already knew him for a very long time. She felt like crying while looking at Dashi.

Leanor was all smiles when she entered the house. She kept on teasing her son for being very nervous to finally meet Seirra personally. Dashi admired Seirra's beauty. It was the reason why he played the violin in front of Kara's house. The infatuation he had when he was seven years old didn't change, maybe it did, it did grow.

Leanor was grateful to witness the fascinating moment of the lives of these two young people. She clearly saw how her son changed the expression on his face, from irritated to amazed with a bit of nervousness.

She remembered the moment she met her husband. She thought that would be the most fascinating scene she would encounter in her life. But this was more than a fascination. Her son finally saw the lady he adored when he was younger and up to now.

"M-magandang araw, Señorita," Dashi greeted the lady nervously.

"No, no. Don't call me---" Seirra stopped when she realized Dashi couldn't speak English.

"I can understand."

Her smile grew wider and her heart was beating faster. She was too amazed. His mother told her that he could speak Spanish as well.

"You are a genius." After Seirra complimented him. She noticed the redness on his cheeks. She thought she made him blush.

"Thank you." Dashi couldn't speak more. He was too amazed and nervous. Amazed because of her sweet tongue, and nervous because of her beauty, that he liked the first time he saw her when they were younger.

"Tu eres muy bonita." He realized that he unconciously said that out loud when his mother, behind him, laughed.

He shyly looked at Seirra who was very curious at the Spanish sentence he said. She was looking over his mother, as if asking her to translate the words to her.

"Kung nagsasabi ng totoo iyong babae. Edi immortal siya?"

Renzo was busy analyzing the things the woman said to him. If that was the case, he was thinking that maybe the woman was a vampire or a pretty werewolf. But it was very impossible. He knew that those creatures were only fictional.

"Dashi."

His heart beat was fast when he heard that name again. And even faster when he saw the woman again. It was unexplainable but he really felt that it was natural for him to feel like that whenever she was near him.
