The next morning Chester woke up with an awful headache. He walked down into the kitchen to be greeted by his mom with her arms crossed and a smug smile on her face.
"Drink to much?" She laughed.
"Maybe a little" he said reaching for the orange juice.
"Need a ride to school?"
"No mom. Brinley is coming by to collect me"

Chester goes back upstairs and gets ready for school, he throws his books in his backpack and hears Brinley honk the horn.
"Just in time" he said to himself.
Chester ran down the stairs "Bye mom, see you after school" he yelled.
"Have a good day!"

*

"Hey Brin" he said smiling.
"Hey!!!"
"You're pretty cheerful this morning"
"Today is a good day! It's my birthday"
"Oh my bad. I didn't know. Happy birthday"
"Of course you didn't you haven't been here long enough!" She laughed.
"Yeah that's true"
"So Chester, can I ask you something?"
"You already are" he laughed "bad joke, sure you can"
"Yesterday, you didn't freak out about being at Sawyer Scott's house. Everyone we try to add to our friend group just don't last because they freak out and nobody wants to be around someone constantly asking about their life.."
"Is Sawyer that much of a big deal around here? I never knew"
"You don't know? The comit? The records in her house? Really?"
"You are going to have to explain a little more Brin because I'm so lost here"

Brinley was so shocked she had never had to explain who the Scott's were to anyone before.

"Sawyers parents are Peyton Sawyer-Scott and Lucas Scott. Mr Scott being the author of the unkindness of ravens and the comit.. they turned one into a tv show.. and Mrs Scott is the owner of multiple record labels you didn't know this? You been under a rock?"
"Im going to sound super lame right now but no. My mom and I have never owned a TV and she barely lets me listen to music - I have no idea who they are"
"Wow. It's not lame. I guess that's just her parenting style but I'm shocked. I have his book in my locker at school if you want to borrow it? It made me want to move to Tree Hill.. erm.. that's where the book is set"
"Sure thing. I'll read it"

Brinley puts on the radio and looks over and Chester bopping his head to the songs. She felt proud to be introducing him to some good songs.

They both arrive at school and the first thing Brinley does is get Chester the book.

"Don't tell Saywer I gave it you" she said laughing.
"I won't.." he laughed.
"..I'll see you at lunch" Chester said.
