Once they reach the cabin, they get out of the car. Sebastian looks around the property to ensure no one is in sight. It is a medium-sized cabin coloured in beige and surrounded by trees and shrubs. Lilith unlocks the front door and they all enter. There is a leather sofa opposite a wall-mounted television. In general, it is vacant, there isn't a lot of furniture or belongings.'This isn't an ideal home of course, but-' Lilith begins, but Vivian quickly interferes, 'It will do.' They slouch on the sofa and put their handbags down. They have a single bag each with essential stuff.
'I will take the sofa and you both can take the bed,' Lilith offers. Sebastian and Vivian nod at her and walk towards the bed area. They immediately fall on the bed and allow their minds to relax. Their bodies ache due to exhaustion. Lilith walks out of the cabin to make a phone call.
Sebastian and Vivian stare at her dubiously, 'Do you think we can trust her?' Sebastian whispers.
'No, of course not, but who says we cannot use her. We need this place and it seems pretty isolated. We cannot tell her our plans, but we need to find out how she knows about us,' Vivian whispers back.
Within a few minutes, Lilith walks back in, 'Are you both okay?'
Sebastian nods and gets up from the bed and walks up to her and Vivian follows.
'Lilith, you owe us an explanation,' Sebastian rests on the opposite sofa.
'Are you guys hungry?' she asks.
'We are fine, but now you need to tell us how you know about us,' Vivian sits down next to Sebastian.
'Okay sure, now what I am about to tell you is not easy at all and I am going to sound insane. But, please let me finish off then you can make your judgment,' Lilith says. Sebastian and Vivian make eye contact then nod simultaneously.
'Here goes nothing,' Lilith breaths out, 'I am your sister, Vivian.'
Vivian creases her eyebrow, 'What bullshit.'
She is about to get up when Sebastian grabs her hand and rubs it, 'Let's hear her out.'
'Please, just listen to me first, let me finish, it will make sense,' Lilith begins, 'I am your older sister, I am 29 years old,' she clears her throat, 'Vivian, when I was born I was given up for adoption because mum and dad couldn't afford to raise me. I left the orphanage and moved a few foster cares and then I lived out by myself after I turned 18. I was a mature child, I started working earlier so I had made enough money to afford a flat and buy necessities. Every year, the orphanage would hold a little reunion party with the kids they raised, so they invited me as we were still in contact. When I went to the orphanage, the lady that looked after me- the one who also took me in, told me about my parents. She felt I was old enough to find out who gave me up,' her eyes slowly tear up.
She pauses and takes a deep breath, 'So, she told me their names were Allen and Kate Reed, they would come to see me in the orphanage, from the outside, but they never confronted me. She told me they were poor and not ready to have kids. They didn't have continual money to help raise me and they didn't want me to suffer so they made the decision to give me up,' few tears fall from her eyes.
'There is no way,' Vivian breaths out, unable to process this information.
'So, once I had this conversation, curiosity sparked in me,' she continues, 'I got as much information as I could from the orphanage and I did some of my own research. I found out they owned a business and eventually made a lot of money; and that they had a daughter.'
'Lilith, I-' Vivian stutters.
'It's okay, just listen please,' she slowly says and wipes her tears, 'I am sorry, I don't mean to cry. I am not usually like this,' she lets out an airy laugh, 'I wanted to come to see them and to get some answers. Then, I heard the news that they committed suicide, but something didn't feel right. Then I saw your statement where you thought they were murdered. It made me wonder what sort of child would come up with this idea unless there was another overlooked story. I connected the dots and figured out the Marshalls were best friends with our parents and how once upon a time they worked for Allen and Kate Reed, and now, they owned the business. Something didn't sit right with me.'
