Many has idea about Army, but Navy? Maybe no. This part is for all those readers who mightn't have much idea about Navy.
Quarters:
I've grown up in a full Navy environment, so the quarter/housing complex I've been describing is like the Head Quarter of BN (Bangladesh Navy). Which comprises of buildings & bungalows, a swimming pool, a conventional hall, a beauty parlor, a kindergarten school, a ladies club, a sick bay, a sports complex attached to a cafe, parks for children, a small grocery shop & tailor shop and ofcourse the Head office.
Ranks:
Ranks for Navy officers are same in every country.
-Sub Lieutenant
-Lieutenant (Manik & Cabir's rank)
-Lieutenant Commander
-Commander
-Captain
-Commodore (Manik's dad's rank)
-Rear Admiral (Anant & Aryaman's dad's rank)
-Vice Admiral
-Admiral
-Admiral of the Fleet
Duty:
Duties of officers depend on their ranks and qualifications. Like the duty of a junior officer is never the same as a senior one. For a junior officer, the duty is more hectic, more tiring and frequent transfers are given to them. Whereas, a senior officer doesn't have that tiring or hectic schedule. Their main task is to get a job done by juniors and supervise them. And transfers aren't frequent either.
Facilities:
Facilities are many. Married officers get houses to stay in depending on their ranks in a quarter. Like a Rear Admiral gets a bungalow or an A - grade apartment. Whereas, a junior officer gets a B - grade or a C - grade apartment depending on ranks. Starting from the Captain rank, officers get a car for themselves from Navy.
Mess/Wardroom:
A mess or a Wardroom is the place where officers can allot a single room to stay in. And has a huge central dining hall.
Note:
The type of quarter I describe in my story may not have similarities with INS Mumbai. My dad is a Navy officer, serving in Bangladesh Navy, so I felt more comfortable to write about it, rather than long googling sessions to gather information about INS Mumbai.🙈
