Nandini got a call from Jeff late in the evening saying there's some urgent emergency at the cafe. She was already grumpy, Manik hadn't shown up since morning, didn't make an effort to talk to her, she didn't receive any surprises from him either.

Did she love receiving such surprises from him?

Yes, she did. Especially the cards with small notes, a big 'sorry' and something or the other doodled around the 'sorry'. 'Such a kid he is and yaa, a pathetic artist too!', she chuckled to herself but again returned back to her grumpy self recalling how he ignored her today and stomped her feet, munching in the Dairy Milk Bubbly that Manik had gifted the previous day with a note, "Cause you're bubbly like a little doll ;)"

A/N: Samthaan saying, "Dairy Milk Bubbly ho tum!" Also, him calling her a 'Little girl'!! Ughhh how much I miss themmm *sobs hard*

A/N (new): Okay, f*ck my carelessness!!!
I literally wrote 'Little girl' instead of 'Little doll' in this chapter!! How could I????? *bursts out in tears*
Now I don't wanna change it, cause the inline comments of those paragraphs will get deleted then.
So please don't mind...
Ughh I'm such a dumbo😭😭

She pushed the glass door open to be welcomed by darkness. She went closer to the switchboard to switch on the lights, but nothing helped. "Power cut?", she said to herself, confused. Just when she was about to call the electrician, the lights turned on with the sound of guitar strumming by a guy, who was facing his back and a guitar in hand. It didn't take her long to recognize who that was before she could react, he started humming in his ecstatic voice and turned around looking right into her soul.

Once he ended, he kept the guitar back and strolled to reach closer to her and said, "Sorry for my trashy voice, literally was out of touch from music for decades lol but the lyrics were straight from my heart huh.", and chuckled softly. She didn't react, just kept staring at him, dazed.

Taking a step closer, he cupped her cheeks ever so gently and said looking straight into her eyes, "Nandini, I didn't prepare any speech, I haven't planned anything about what I'd say to you today, I can't write you an essay with stupid pick up lines either. What I can say is, I love you, Nandini. I love you more than anything in my life. I love you with everything in my life. I know, I have been really mean to you, broke your heart, pushed you away, and left when we were just coming a small step closer each day. Even today, I'm not going to promise you that I'll stay by your side forever. Cause if I do, it'd be nothing but a false promise." After a few moments, he continued, "My job isn't a stable one and you know that. I can get called for duty anytime, get posted anywhere, go on missions... Situations would come when I'd have to leave even when I don't want to. So instead, I can promise you that, you'll find me by your side maybe not always, but I'll be there as long as I can. Ours might not be a classical love story with a guaranteed happy ending, but I can guarantee that I'll keep loving you till my last breath and we can surely write our own story right? Together?!" She didn't say anything yet, but her eyes softened and appeared as if she was on the verge of crying. Manik resumed, "Nandini, you know since the day I left you, I started getting detached from the rest important things in my life too. Want is not the word for me, I need you, Nandini. I need you to maintain my sanity. I love you. I love you.", he chanted like a prayer, voice almost inaudible.

"Manik-", she couldn't manage to say anything further, cause she was bowled out by the truthfulness of his words, the sincerity of his voice, the longing in his eyes. She tiptoed, snaking her arms around his neck. Wrapping his arms around her frame, lifting her feet above the ground, pulling her further to himself. She snuggled deeper into the crook of his neck, he inhaled in her jasmine fragrant hair, eyes closed.
