(TIM’S POV)

Debbie led us to Travis’s home as if she was the owner of it. She even slammed the door without minding what would the guy react.

I was just thinking of Levi that time. I knew she was in great pain and mourning all night. She must have not slept.

“Where did you take Levi?” Debbie asked as if Travis just kidnapped her.

“Upstairs. Come on,” he calmly replied, pointing his finger upwards.

His house was undeniably exquisite and big for him. It wasn’t just a simple house. He must be a son of a high class family. But where were they?

“Where is your family?” I asked, still wandering around as we take the stairs going to where Levi was.

“They’re gone,” he immediately responded.

“Gone? What d’you mean?”

“Gone. Dead. Passed away,” he elaborated without any signs of offense nor sadness on his face.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” I apologized.

“It’s nothing. Past must remain in the past. We can’t bring them back now, right?” he asked and leaned his head to confirm our agreement to his statement. “Here she is. Make her happy,” he told us.

“Of course, I will. I mean, yes, of course, we will.”

We found her near the window, staring at the vast. Debbie hurriedly embraced her and Levi burst her tears. I sat beside them. I could feel Levi’s pain and I knew nothing could make her feel better but to see her mother alive again…but it was impossible.

The room was filled with sobs and blues. Everybody seemed drowning in Levi’s tears.

Few minutes later and Levi paused crying for a moment. She must have consumed all her tears and not even a droplet of tear could escape anymore.

Debbie looked at me and widened her eyes as if signaling something to do.

“What?” I whispered.

She replied without voice so I had to read her mouth but I couldn’t.

“Huh?” I asked again.

“Theee E-leeeeec-tioooooon” she whispered back.

Was she serious? As in right now? How could we talk about that? Levi wasn’t even okay and I knew she could not even think of anything that time. I did not want her to suffer more but Debbie was so insistent and I was not able to stop her.

“Uhm, Levi…” Debbie called her but Levi was still sitting on the bed. Unresponsive. “I know this is too much to talk about this time but I think we should really discuss it,” she continued carefully.

I tried to warn Debbie to not begin the discussion about the election yet but she was really eager.
“Could you please run as a president for the upcoming election? I know I am getting so irrational right now but you badly need to-”  Debbie was not finished yet but Levi interrupted her.

“Did you just come here to tell me that? If yes, you may now leave,” Levi replied with disappointment. She laid down and covered herself with the blanket beside her.
“Levi, if you are thinking about the long list of things you should do, don’t worry. I already planned them all for you. Look, Tim and I, …and Travis, we will all help you do the campaign and win the position,”

“Deb, stop. No one’s gonna do the campaign. No one’s gonna run for the election. If you wanna run for it, then just do it with them. I hope you understand me,” Levi declined her once again.

Debbie looked at me and I signaled her to just stop it. I was helpless. Debbie already made her mind. She would not leave the house without Levi accepting her proposal.

“Your mother won’t come back anymore,” she uttered. We were all shocked with what she said so I immediately went to her and covered her mouth. She did not know what she saying, I thought.

Levi woke up and replied, “what did you just say?”

“Look, if you’re just gonna lie there all day long, nothing will happen. Mrs. Victor will still remain dead. Do you think she will be happy if you just leave everything and stop doing what you used to do? I know her. She will be really proud if you win this election!” Debbie explained with conviction. “Would you really let Taranee lead the council? I mean, we all know her, she will just parade herself around the campus and our school will remain stagnant. And most of all, you want your mom to see you giving your valedictory speech, right? It will be a big point for your extra-curricular grades!”

Not so soon, Levi finally agreed and accepted her proposal. I knew she did it not because of her own achievement but because I know that her mom’s smile would be the best gift she could ever have if her mom was alive.

Debbie did not wait for anything and she immediately discussed her plans with Levi. She told us that this victory would be a fight of everyone in the room. She assigned me to do the possible platforms and projects and she would be responsible for the campaign materials. Debbie did not give Travis anything. I knew she still had trust issues with him after his involvement in crime in the campus but Travis still promised that he would help with anything he could.

8:36 p.m.

Everything was already settled so we started taking the pizzas and burgers that Travis ordered online. I couldn’t help but check Levi from time to time if she was eating and I was happy because she did eat.

“Anyway, I met Mr. Bobby in the school a while ago. She asked me where you are and asked me to send his condolences to you,” Debbie said with mouth full of munched burger and lettuce hanging on her lip.

“Mr. Bobby? Who is he? Do I know him?” Levi asked.

“Our school janitor. He told me he knows us so he managed to notice that you were absent a while ago.”

“I still can’t remember him.” Levi replied clueless of who the guy was.

Mr. Bobby is one of the school janitors in RSU. He was really remarkable to many profs and students because of his politeness and cheerfulness in his work. They said that he had been already there long time ago. He must have witnessed all the stupidity of the students in the campus.

*RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG*

Someone’s calling. It was from Travis’s phone.

TRAVIS: “Hello? Who is this?”

He couldn’t hear the caller so he turned the loudspeaker on.

TRAVIS: “Hello?!”

GIRL: “I am so sorry about what happened a while ago. I really did not mean to interrupt your conversation."

TRAVIS: Oh, it’s you, Gwen.Don’t worry its ok.”

GIRL “How are you? Are you fine?”

TRAVIS: “Yes, why?”

GIRL: “I just want to make sure you are okay. Anyway, I have just rented a new room and I think it is near you. Are you alone? Would you like to taste my pie?”

Debbie and I grinned with what we heard.

TRAVIS: “N-no. I am fine. Thanks!”

GIRL: "Are you sure? Anyway, if you won’t eat my pie, could we just please go out sometimes? I hope you won’t reject me.”

TRAVIS: “I w-will think of it. Bye!”

GIRL: “Wai—“

Travis ended the call and he seemed nervous and creeped with the girl. She sounded like she really liked Travis. Really.

I couldn’t deny that I was amused with what she did because I didn’t even have the courage to ask Levi on a date just like she did to Travis. Maybe later… or sooner.

Just at right time… and I hoped I wouldn’t be late.
