(AUTHOR’S POV)

Everyone was getting busy, working hard for the fulfillment of each other’s desires…

Some are moved by aspirations, trying to escape the arrival of darkness in politics. Could she make it? Would she do everything, even when her friend Levi was still in her greatest agony? Or would she just surrender? Until when is she gonna fight for it?

Some are moved by their raging affection. I know you are thinking of how much Tim loved Levi. How much? Could you measure it by the number of times he was there for Levi? Or could you just tell that what Tim is doing is already enough for Levi to like him back? But what if Levi couldn’t do the favor back to him? Would he stop doing his perpetual good works?

Some are moved by their goals and undying memories. Could you imagine how disappointed Levi was when Debbie pushed her to run for the election? Who would have thought that Levi would still agree? Was it her possible achievements that made her decision? Or was it her mother’s living memories in her heart?

I would bet my life. I know you still don’t know anything about Travis. Am I right? Could he just possibly go with a certain circle of friend after the unresolved death of his friend in the campus? Ain’t it dark? Ain’t it something puzzling and stinky? Do you remember how Jester just fucked up with him the last time they met? Why was he so mischievous? Something must be chasing him? Isn’t he now the scariest at all?

But some are moved by the power of obsession that inhabits in their minds. It is the force that trespasses the peacefulness of someone’s life, the ruination of a man’s quietness through the unexpected disturbance, stalking, and forceful influx of a person’s love into the pit of acceptance.

And it was exactly what the girl acted upon Travis. It didn’t matter to her whether she felt repetitive rejection; what mattered to her was the presence and attention of his beloved man. She would do anything and everything to be loved back. Was it even possible? I guess so. But in the case of a man who was still a stranger to all and to a girl who would give errs to anyone? How compatible they were…

Behind everybody’s back, they didn’t know that Tara was already prepared for any bloody battle. She would do everything just to win the position. Who would not? She’s beautiful. Everything would fall on to its places effortlessly because she could win their sympathy with just a wink of an eye. She knew that when that happens, she would get all the glory and fame she had been waiting for too long. Getting just the eyes of men wasn’t enough.

But I know, and I know you too, that even if she already got what she desired, she would not just stop there.

Nothing would satisfy her.

She was just like any ambitious woman that would dare to risk anything just to be worldly perfect. She would even take the dirtiest way just to look good and get applause from her audience.

This is the concept of beauty that almost all have been always looking for. This is the beauty that ironically makes itself the ugliest and the nastiest ideology among all. And most of all, just like Tara, we cannot stop ourselves from getting obsessed with the beauty that kills others’ standards, confidence, dreams, love, and worst—lives. This is the poison beauty.

Behind the stage where Tara was making her evil plans was the growth of envy, discouragement, and hopelessness of Travis’s unknown lover.

Gwyneth Yvonne Stevenson.

Everybody calls her Gwen. She was a grade 12 student from the Bread and Pastry strand. Her father already passed away when she was just 2 years old after a fire had devoured the factory of dolls where he worked. Her mother was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

At her young age, her mom was already teaching her how to bake pastries, especially when it was her father’s birthday. Her mother told her that even if his father was already dead, his memories would always live in their hearts.

Gwen did not feel loneliness from her father’s death ever since, not until her mother suffered from the disorder.

They stopped what they used to do happily together. She baked cakes alone. No celebration even at her birthdays. Nothing to be happy at all. If her mother dies, then her life would be useless at all.

As years went by, she learned how to live alone. She taught herself to never depend on anyone; to never find happiness anymore; and to believe that her life wasn’t beautiful anymore—even she. It was her parents that used to call her the most beautiful gift given by the superior above. She used to believe that, but not anymore.

She grew hungry for attention and love. She always imagined what it feels like to be taken care of again. She would just always embrace her pillows when she longed for the feeling of being loved.

Her world seemed renewed when she saw Travis. It was on the first day of class when her heartbeat galloped fast. She would always remember how Kevin got so mad that she spilled her cappuccino on his uniform. She would never forget how Travis came and defended her even though his friend was Kevin. She would never forget how Travis got concerned on her even when Kevin just walked out on embarrassment and went to somewhere to change his clothes.

It was the first time again that someone treated her as if she was beautiful. Ever since that day, she never stopped following him. She never minded even when she almost looked like his stalker. She never got tired of admiring his handsomeness. And she would continue doing this in belief that he likes her too.

Gwen already found the fuel for her match. All she had to do was to come near and let herself be burned in the warmth of his affection and let her life be illuminated by the hope of not feeling the solitude again…
