AUTHORS NOTE

Say hello to a bunch of new characters! I realise some of you may have been getting bored of Jack and Summer just being on their own, so I decided a few chapters ago to build up to the couple going to a new town.

The character Sharell Appsrox is based on my watt-pad friend : appsapps. Hey, appsapps, her last name is Appsrox. See what I did there?😁😁😁

OH MY GOD, ANOTHER AUTHORS NOTE. WILL I EVER SHUT UP?!

Oh, and even though the character Sharell is sly and kind of mean, I'm pretty sure appsapps is not, at least not sly in a bad way. The slyness and meanness came from my imagination and is in no way connected to the personality of appsapps.

🌲Beware of Sharell🌲

They awoke sometime in the late morning to find a small group of people gazing curiously at the two, muttering.

"Who are they?"

"How did they get here?"

"Where did they come from?"

But all Summer heard was 'they'.

'We aren't they's,' she thought. 'We are people.'

Summer repeated the word 'they' in her head for a long time, until it stopped making any sense.

T-H-E-Y. It didn't make sense. It didn't feel right in her mouth, the letters didn't seem to spell what they were meant to.

Summer quickly shook herself out of the trance. She realised everyone was staring curiously, especially a pretty curly haired girl, who's eyes lingered too long on Jack for Summers liking.

"Umm... I'm Summer. This is Jack. We came from Kryston, it was destroyed. We've been living in the woods, and came here for some supplies."

Yes, thought Summer. That sounded right. "And we're a little lonely too." She added quickly. Jack nodded. She was glad he agreed with her.

An old woman hobbled to the front of the crowd.

"Jack? Jack who?" She croaked.

"Jack O' Hallearn. But I'd prefer to not have a last name." said Jack, staring at the woman oddly as though... He vaguely recognised her.

The old woman slowly walked towards Jack.

"Jack... I knew your mother."

Jack stiffened. This is what everyone had been waiting for. The crowd held its breath. Or at least it felt that way.

"She died when you left. Starvation m'boy, terrible. We all thought you died too, not much more than a baby you were. But here you are."

Jack nodded slowly. Summer spoke up quickly.

"We need a place to stay. Please, we've been travelling for weeks."

The girl with curly hair piped up.

"I'll let you stay!" She smiled a mile wide smile. She seemed very hyperactive.

This was probably one of the last people Summer wanted to stay with. She was looking at Jack too much, and was quite pretty too. She didn't want Jack taken from her.
