New Year's Promise

"Sakura,it has been 5 years. He is probably dead now" Ino said.

"No,his body isn't found. I'm sure he is still alive out there" I said as I choked my tears in.

It's New Year's and it has been the most hopeful and most miserable day of the year for 5 years.

~FLASHBACK~

It was New Years Eve and we were riding on a Ferris Wheel,watching the night sky.

"Sakura" Sasuke called.

I turned to him and answered,"Yes?"

"I'm leaving for America to help my parents in their business before my brother takes over it" He said.

"When will you be back?" I asked.

"I honestly don't know. It depends on when my brother is coming back." He replied sadly. "Maybe forever.." He said barely a whisper.

I was silent as I glanced at the sky.

"I'll be back. I promise" He smiled.

"Promise" I smiled and reached out a pinky. He wrapped his pinky around mine.

"Promise me you will wait for me" He said.

"I promise!" I grinned.

Suddenly,lights were shot up to the sky and shaped like a flower.

"Happy New Year" We said to each other with a wide smile on our faces and shared a passionate kiss.

Ring! Ring!

I reached for my phone and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Sakura" This voice..

"S-Sasuke?!" My voice cracked as my tears threatened to fall.

"I'm coming back! Meet me at the Ferris Wheel on New Years Eve just like that day. We shall count down for a new year together"

"I'll be there! I love you,Sasuke!" I cried tears of joy.

"I love you too,Sakura. Promise me you will be there" He said.

"I promise! I can't wait to see you!"

I waited at the Ferris Wheel for hours. The countdown was over. I looked at the ground sadly. Suddenly,my phone rang. I immediately grabbed it.

"Hello??"

"Sakura!" Ino panicked.

"Ino?? Why are you calling me at this time??" I asked.

"S-Sasuke.. His plane crashed!"

My heart stopped as I dropped my phone,staring at ground in disbelief.

~FLASHBACK ENDED~

"Sakura.."

"He is a man of his word,Ino. He said he will be there. He promise. I believe him. I promised I'll wait for him and I will"

Ino looked at me with pity. I shrugged it off and looked at the time.

"It's time." I exclaimed as I stood up.

"You have been going there every New Years Eve for 5 years. 5 Years!" Ino sighed.

"It's a promise between us" I said and walked away with a sad smile.

I walked to the Ferris Wheel and laid my back on the railing. I looked at the sky with tears in my eyes.

Sasuke..

Where are you..?

Come back..

My tears flow down my cheeks while I watched the lights of the sky disappear. Stars slowly appearing in the night sky.

Suddenly,a thumb wiped away my cheeks. I moved my eyes away from the sky and looked who it was. I gasped and covered my mouth to silent my sobs.

"You shouldn't be crying at my first sight of seeing you after all these years" He said.

"S-Sasuke.. Sasuke.. Sasuke!" I cried and launched myself at him.

I sobbed on his shoulders as I tightened my grip around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist tightly and buried his face into the crook of my neck.

We stayed in that position for a long time until I pulled away and punched him repeatedly.

"You idiot!" I cried and landed a hard punch on his chest. "It had been 5 years,you know? 5 years of making me sick and worried!" He caught my fist and pulled me for a hug.

"I'm sorry" He said as he stroke my hair. "I survived the accident,but I was in coma for 4 years. I was needed to spend almost a year to be completely healed"

"I'm glad you are here. You kept your promise." I said as I buried my face in his chest.

"You kept yours too. You waited for me. For all these years." He said and kissed my head. "I love you,Sakura"

"I love you too,Sasuke" I smiled.

He pulled away and kissed my tears away. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to take a seat in the Ferris Wheel.

"Sakura,will you promise me something?" He asked.

"What is it?"

He took at ring and held it in front of me. I gaped at it and felt my heart skipped a beat.

"Promise me you will be mine,hold my family name and have our children for I promise you to care for you,protect you and love you only. Marry me,Sakura."

"I promise! I will marry you,Sasuke" I giggled.

He smiled and insert the ring on my finger. He took my hands in his and looked into my eyes. Slowly,our lips connect.

Before we broke our kiss,the night sky was illuminated with sparks.

"Happy New Year!" We said to each other with a wide smile on our faces.

He kept his promise. A promise made on a New Year. A promise kept on a New Year.
