"Joey, the cops are taking forever, it's been 15 minutes and the station is right across the street" I said to Joey being very impatient. Ruby slapped the guy in his face with his own sandwich. She was still trying to get out whatever secret he was hiding but he kept insisting he didn't know what she was talking about. Everyone was surrounding him.
"That's because I didn't actually call the police" Joey whispered.
"YOU WHAT?! WHY NOT?" I yelled. I couldn't understand why.
"Because I honestly don't think he did anything wrong"
"Joey, her clothes are in his ROOM. Is that not suspicious enough?" I whisper shouted.
Leo grabbed Joey & I by the arms and dragged us over to the kitchen.
"You tell us what happened to her or we're going to steal your cat!" Carlie shouted.
"OK FINE. GEEANA IS MY NIECE. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HER. I NEVER GRABBED HER BY THE NECK, I GRABBED HER BY HER CHEEKS AND DISMISSED HER BECAUSE SHE LOST HER PHONE. SHE CHANGED AT MY HOUSE AND PUT HER CLOTHES IN THE CLOSET WHERE I KEEP MY DIRTY CLOTHES. SHE WENT TO HER GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE SO NO ONE WOULD FIND HER BECAUSE SHE TOLD ME SHE WAS GETTING READY TO SURPRISE HER FRIENDS WITH SOMETHING BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT. IM GUESSING YOU ARE HER FRIENDS." He let it all out. She wasn't missing. She was at her grandmothers. Why didn't we think to check there? Thank god Joey didn't call the cops. We got all worried for nothing. Well not for nothing, we were all rightfully worried.
"Are you serious?!" We all yelled at the same time.
"Told you" Joey said to me. I punched his arm.
"Oh, well in that case, we're very sorry for wasting your sandwich. And for what we did of course." Ruby sarcastically said.
He forgave us and we all had some tea and we talked with him for about 20 minutes before Anthony jumped up out of his seat.
"Guys, the party starts in 2 hours. We have to get going and set everything up at my house. If she doesn't show up within an hour before the party we're going to her grandmothers. Let's go everyone."
We all followed Anthony back to the car and we said sorry to Geeana's uncle. I felt pretty bad. But I ran to the car so I could get the seat next to Carlie. Sure enough, I got the seat next to Carlie.
"Babe, you're going to have to sit on James or Leo's lap. I need to put something in the backseat." Vincent told her. Leo gave me that look. I mouthed 'shut up' to him.
"I guess i'll sit on James' lap. Leo is nasty." She laughed. It was so adorable when she laughed. I was so nervous I was already starting to feel something. This isn't good. She climbed onto my lap and I felt like I was in heaven.
"James, is it okay if I sit like this just for the ride?"
"Umm..Hhhh..O-of course" I stuttered. Jesus could I get anymore awkward?
The car ride was awkward and pretty silent. Carlie was talking to Ruby in the front seat about what costumes they were gonna wear to the party tonight. We were driving back to anthony's house and we all had our costumes in our backpacks, which were in the trunk. I was pretty excited for tonight because I was finally going to have an actual conversation with Carlie, at my first high school party. And plus I have cool friends that made this possible. I still don't know how i'm friends with them. If you ask me, they're all too popular and cool for me, besides Joey. He's on my level. Almost everyone in the 10th grade was going to be at Anthony's house for his party. It was nerve-wracking but I tried to take my mind off of it for now, and I thought about something that made me happy; Carlie. I was in a complete daze. Just staring at the back of her blonde curly haired head.
