'Guys, I need to talk to you about something,' Cheryl began. They were eating their burgers on the sun beds. Toni reached for her hand, knowing what was coming.

'Yesterday I went to the doctor's office and I'd been having lots of tests done because I had started to become more dizzy and have bad headaches,' she was beginning to tear up, 'and the doctor told me that I have a fast growing brain tumour and.. I have six months to live,' she finished, she was crying at this point.

Toni sat next to her on her sun bed, holding her while she cried.

'Oh my God,' Veronica said, shocked, 'that's why you got so dizzy earlier,' she realised.

Both girls went to Cheryl and Toni, joining the hug.

'I'm so sorry, Cheryl, you don't deserve this,' Betty said, also crying.

A few minutes later, Cheryl managed to pull herself together.

'Can we just have fun tonight?' She asked, 'I don't know how many more nights like this we'll have, I don't want to waste them being upset.'

'Yeah, definitely, we'll make this a great night,' Veronica promised, trying to sound slightly more cheerful.

'You look hot, babe,' Toni said as Cheryl walked outside in her red two piece bathing suit. It was getting dark, but the girls still wanted to swim.

'Thannkkss,' the redhead slurred, she'd had more to drink than the rest of them.

Toni put her arm around Cheryl's bare waist to help her walk, she could walk but she was just a little unsteady.

They got to the pool steps, Betty and Veronica were already swimming.

Toni let Cheryl walk down them by herself, there was a metal bar to hold onto so she was fine.

'When did Cheryl tell you about the tumour?' Betty asked Toni.

'Yesterday, just after she found out,' Toni replied.

They stayed in the pool until it was pitch black outside and, once it got too cold, they went inside and got changed.

'Toni, hellpp me chaaange,' Cheryl slurred, she was fully drunk at this point.

They headed up to Cheryl's room and Toni took the other girl's bikini top off her and put a pyjama one on. She'd seen her without clothes before, so it wasn't a big deal.

'I don't feel well,' Cheryl said, suddenly running into the en-suite bathroom.

Toni held her hair back as she threw up.

'You're okay baby, get it all out,' she murmured, whilst rubbing her back.

Once she was finished, Toni went back into the bedroom and grabbed the bottle of water that she'd brought up just in case something like this were to happen.

'Here, drink this,' she said, handing her the cool bottle.

'Thanks, TT,' she croaked.

The girls had sorted the beds that they would be sleeping in, Toni and Cheryl were alone in the bed.

Cheryl would have her room with Toni and Betty and Veronica would share the guest room.

'How are you feeling now?' Toni asked, reaching for her girlfriend's hand under the covers.

'Much more sober,' Cheryl joked, pulling Toni in for a kiss.

'I'm sorry, Toni,' the redhead began, pulling out of the kiss.

'For what baby?' She asked.

'For putting you through all of this. I was thinking about it earlier. You're going to be the one left behind to pick up all of the pieces after I die, you're the one who's really going to struggle,' she told her, a single tear running down her cheek.

'Don't apologise, I'd rather have spent this time loving you but having to go through your death instead of not getting these last few months with you at all, you have nothing to be sorry for,' the brunette insisted, putting her arm around Cheryl's shoulders, pulling her into her chest.

'I love you,' Cheryl said, 'and I always will.'

'I love you too,' Toni said, meaning it.
