'Inner circle Vixens, stay a little longer,' Cheryl called, after dismissing the rest of the cheerleaders.

Betty, Veronica and Toni walked over to her.

'There will be a sleepover tonight at Thistlehouse, you're all invited,' Cheryl told them, smiling, 'my mother is staying with my Nana at her place for the night so that we can have the house to ourselves, feel free to bring some drinks,' she winked.

Once the time was arranged, Betty and Veronica left the sports hall, leaving Toni and Cheryl alone.

'Are you going to tell them tonight?' The brunette asked.

'I think so, it's about time that they know,' Cheryl responded, a nervous expression on her face.

Toni moved closer to the other girl, wrapping her in a tight hug, 'it'll be okay,' she said, 'it'll all be okay.'

'Welcome to Thistlehouse,' Cheryl exclaimed when Betty and Veronica arrived, Toni was already there.

She took one of the many bottles of alcohol from Veronica, who was about to drop it.

'Good God, you really did bring a lot!' Cheryl giggled, leading them into the kitchen.

After placing the bottle on the island in the middle of the room, she gestured for the other two girls to do the same.

'I set up the barbecue outside next to the pool, Toni is already out there on the sun beds, I'll prepare some drinks and be out there soon,' Cheryl told the others, opening up one of the bottles.

'Hey Toni,' Betty called, heading towards the sun beds that were next to the pool.

'Hi, is Cheryl coming?' She asked.

'Yeah, she's just making drinks,' Veronica told the girl, sitting down on the bed next to Toni. Betty was next to Veronica and Cheryl would be on the other side of Toni.

'Three cocktails for my three besties,' the redhead called, walking over to the group.

She handed them out before sitting on her sun bed, the only one with an umbrella above it, of course.

'So what do you wanna do tonight?' Cheryl asked everyone.

They decided on swimming and archery.

'Draw back your arrow, keep you hand steady... and fire!!' Cheryl directed, showing them how to shoot an arrow. 'Bullseye!!' She shouted when it landed in the middle of the smallest circle.

One by one, the girls took their shot.

'Pretty good Toni, almost made it to the smallest ring, make sure to keep your eye right in the centre,' she told her girlfriend after she had fired it.

Veronica was up next.

'Dang it,' the Latina sighed, she had hit the most outer ring.

'Try to keep your hand more steady next time, you need to have confidence or else it won't follow a straight line,' she explained, moving onto Betty.

'I've got this,' she said, drawing back her arrow. However, once she released, she realised that she certainly didn't have it.

The arrow missed the board completely and landed on the ground a few feet away from it.

'Betty,' Cheryl began, sighing, 'maybe try to aim for the board next time sweetie,' she teased, putting on a fake pitying voice.

'Shut up,' Betty said, playfully pushing the redhead away from her.

Cheryl started to go lightheaded from the sudden movement, grabbing onto Veronica's arm for support.

'Wow, are you okay?' The Latina asked, worried.

'Yeah, yeah I'm fine,' Cheryl insisted, brushing it off. She had probably just not eaten enough, making her dizzy. 'How about we go and start the barbecue, I'm hungry,' she suggested, in attempt to get the focus off her.

Cheryl was stood at the barbecue by the pool, flipping the burgers with Toni. Betty and Veronica were on the sun beds at the other side of the pool.

'Would you say this one is done?' Cheryl asked, gesturing to the burger she was about to flip, she didn't cook very often.

'No where near darling, be patient,' Toni joked, wrapping her arm around the other girl's waist. 'What happened earlier?' She asked, concern creeping into her voice.

'When?' Cheryl replied, pretending to be oblivious.

'When Betty pushed you lightly and you got really dizzy,' Toni prompted, determined to get an answer.

'I just went dizzy, that's all, I haven't eaten much today,' Cheryl said, heading away from the barbecue and into the house.

'Where are you going?' Toni called, staying outside to finish up making dinner.

'To get a glass of water,' Cheryl told her.

The redhead walked through the sliding door and into the kitchen. She stood behind the wall so that she couldn't be seen and fell to her knees.

Sobbing, she wondered how she would be able to watch her self deteriorate every day for the next six months of her life. She had only got a little dizzy this time, what about when she could no longer feed herself or walk properly, she'd read online that brain tumours could cause that to happen.

Her body convulsed, trying to hold the tears in but failing miserably. She was a mess, she had to pull herself together.

———————————————————

Walking outside, Cheryl went back to Toni to help sort the food out.

'Where's your water?' Toni asked, jolting Cheryl from her thoughts.

'Huh? What water?' Cheryl questioned.

'You went in to grab some water,' Toni reminded her.

'Oh, I drank it while I was inside,' the redhead lied, not wanting to burden her friend any more than she had to. She felt so bad for Toni throughout all of this, it can't be easy for her to know that she was about to lose her best friend. Toni would be the one left to pick up the pieces after her death after all.
