"Mick." I was scared. What were these guys planning? Now his whole group were gathered around us with mischievous looks on all their faces.
"You're fine babe. I'll be here I promise." He says coming behind me. "Can I put this on?" He asks me. I give him one last look before nodding my head. He places the silk cloth over my eyes and I feel him tie a not in the back. I was grateful I had pulled my hair up into a bun beforehand. I feel his hands at my waist as the room quietens and everybody talks in hushed whispers.
"Hold out your hands." Bryce tells me his voice cracking slightly as he tried so hard to suppress his excitement. I follow his instructions and I feel an unfamiliar pair of hands straighten my hands and move them slightly further apart.
"Ok, guess." He says.
Suddenly I feel a smooth long object placed on my hands. It was scaly and curved. I felt it move and I instantly freeze up.
"Oh my God!" I exclaim. "Is it a snake?!" I cry. Mick unties my blindfold and I see the long green snake wrapping around my hands. I scream, retract my hands and step backwards tumbling over Mick's feet and falling over the small ottoman by my feet.
Everybody was laughing whilst I was just trying go catch my breath.
Mick comes over and helps me up.
"I'm sorry." He pouts looking at me. "Are you ok?" He asks.
"My heart is beating out my chest." I tell him breathing out. "I'm fine." I tell him when he looks at me concerned.
"Matt has some baby snakes which are cute. Wanna hold one?" He asks.
"Sure."
The baby snakes were indeed cuter and easier to handle. They were pretty cool to look at and the girls and I had an impromptu photo shoot with them.
I had learned Matt owned a sanctuary for exotic animals thats why he had the snakes. I still thought he was suspicious. Bryce had come over to me at some point and I noticed him follow me as I moved between groups of people. I was still holding a baby snake when I feel a tap on my arm.
"Oh, hey." I smile at Bryce.
"Can I hold that?" He asks his beer breath coming in strong. I nod and was about to hand him the snake but he stands behind me holding his cupped hands out underneath mine. "Drop it." He says his face a little close to mine. I was about to move away when I feel myself being pulled towards someone.
"What the hell, man?" Mick asks, his arm wrapped protectively around mine. Bryce looks away sheepishly and Mick shakes his head. "Grab your jacket. We're going." Mick mumbles to me, taking the snake out of my hands. There was an awkward silence in the room and I was glad to be getting out of there.
"Hey, you have my number right?" I ask Anna before I grab my jacket. She nods. "Text me the pictures?" I ask her. She smiles letting me know she will before she hugs me goodbye.
I watched Mick almost tumble down the stairs as he couldn't keep his feet straight.
Mick grabs an open bottle of whiskey from the table downstairs. The music had been turned down and there was only a few people left mingling around.
"Ok, you can barely walk straight. Don't you think you've had enough already?" I tell him holding the bottle in his hands. He rolls his eyes taking the bottle away from me and heads for the front door. I sigh and follow after him.
The cold air hits me like a ton of bricks and a shiver runs through my body instantly. I chase after him even though it was difficult in my heels.
"Are you mad at me?" I call after him. He doesn't reply but does stop to allow me to catch up go him. He wraps his arm over me cuddling me to his side.
"I'm not mad at you." He says taking a sip from his bottle. We stop in the street and sit on a random house's front wall. "You do make me crazy though. I mean what, Bryce was hovering too near you and I got mad?" He laughs sipping his drink. His words were slurred almost incoherent.
"Well I was kind of uncomfortable with how close he was to me." I shrug. I look at him as he winces and takes another sip. "Come on. You've had enough to drink." I tell him with a bit more authority in my voice.
"Maybe." He shrugs. He put the near empty bottle beside him on the wall.
"Michael." I sigh. Mick gives me a look to tell me to shut up. "Can we go? I'm cold." I tell him. He gets up and pulls me close again.
"Just so you know I'm leaning on you so I don't fall on my ass while we walk." He says with a smirk on his face.
"Nice." I scoff. I laugh and push him causing him to fall and land on his butt. "Jackass." I call walking away from him.
