It'd been hours now since his flight landed in Loveland City. Victor was sitting in a bar drinking whisky. He stopped counting the glasses a while ago. Two drinks earlier, he'd thought about calling his father but he just couldn't say it out loud yet.
'Sir? We are closing soon. Do you need a taxi?' The bartender turned to him.
'No. I'll just call my chauffeur.' Victor grumbled and reached for his phone.
'You up?'
'Huh? Who is this?'
'Victor.'
'Agh! What do you want? It's midnight.' She whined.
'I need to ask you a favour.'
The girl walked into the empty bar. Only one man was sitting at the counter, drawing circles on the rim of his glass with his finger absent-mindedly. She rolled her eyes and let out an exasperated sigh.
'Get up!' She grabbed his arm and yanked him.
'What a warm greeting!' Victor chuckled.
'You woke me up. This is what you get. Let's go!' She growled.
'Okay, okay!' He staggered back when he stood up.
'Jesus...' The girl huffed and supported Victor from behind.
'Sir?' The bartender handed him the receipt.
'Oh my god!' The girl gasped when she saw the total.
'Pfft...' Victor snorted and whipped out his black card.
She stuffed Victor into the backseat of a taxi and sat next to him.
'Where do you live?'
'In a big house. It's very fancy. You should come over sometime.' Victor yawned.
'Sure but what is the address?'
'Not telling.' He leaned his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes.
'You are unbelievable...' She sighed.
The girl made the bed for Victor on the couch while he was in the bathroom. After she turned the lights off, he kept tossing and turning, trying to find the least uncomfortable spot.
'Can you please stop making so much noise? I'm trying to sleep here.'
'Your couch is crap.' Victor grumbled. He walked over to her bed and pushed her. 'Move!'
'Hey!'
'How many pillows do you need to sleep? Why is everything so fuzzy and fluffy? Ugh!' He tossed all her plushies and extra pillows off the bed. 'It's like a god damn petting zoo in here.'
'Shut up and sleep already!' She hissed and turned away, tugging the blanket off him.
It wasn't any better in the bed either. He was still restless. He picked up his phone and started browsing the news but the words were just jumbled up scribbles. She whimpered and mumbled something next to him. He put down his phone and stared at the dark ceiling, listening to her slow and shallow breathing. It was a little too slow actually. He waited and when he couldn't hear her inhaling or exhaling for several seconds, he poked her.
'Agh!' She jumped. 'What was that for?'
'So you are not dead. That's good.' He turned away from her.
She waited until Victor was asleep then cautiously scooted closer to him. She tucked him in before he'd catch a cold. She didn't move away. She knew it was wrong and she felt so guilty about it but she just wanted feel his warmth.
