Wednesday morning, a new coffee cup was waiting for him on his desk. It was a double walled glass coffee cup and the inner lining was a cat's paw.

'Moron.' Victor rolled his eyes but a soft smile tugged at his lips.

He never complained about work but that day, he was exhausted. He was driving home and he got stuck in a traffic jam. On top of all, the rain was pouring down relentlessly. He was listening to classical music, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel when a scene on the street caught his attention.

A woman without an umbrella was running to catch the bus. She was carrying a potted plant. She tripped and fell down and the pot broke into pieces. She quickly gathered the plant and stumbled to her feet but just when she was about get there, the bus pulled out. And then a speeding car splashed her. She just stood there completely defeated.

Victor sighed.

He pulled up next to her and let down the window. 'Get in!'

She flinched.

'No, thanks.' She kept walking with her eyes fixed on the pavement.

He kept driving next to her at a slow speed.

'I said, get in the car! Now!'

'And I said no.' She retorted.

Victor parked the car and got out. He opened his umbrella and held it over her head.

'Can you be any more stupid?'

'I don't know. Can you be any more rude?'

'You are childish.'

'And you are arrogant.'

'Stop being unreasonable and get in the car!'

'I don't need your pity.' She glared at him.

'Fine.' He shrugged and went back to his car without another word.

He left her standing in the rain. The car pulled out and the girl watched it speed away. She was taken aback.

'Hah...' She snorted with disbelief but then she cracked up laughing. 'This man!'

...

Usually he would see her wandering around in the office everyday but he hadn't seen her for a week now. He knew she was back to work beacuse the half-dead plant on his desk had been changed to a new one. He hunted her down when she went to the tea kitchen to fill up her watering can.

When she turned around, Victor was standing right in front of her. She jumped with a start and almost dropped the watering can.

'Agh!' She yelped. 'Jesus! Can't you make a sound when you walk in somewhere? You scared me to death.'

'You are avoiding me.'

'Yes, I am.'

'I wonder why.'

'Just trying to cut off unnecessary stress in my life. Doctor's orders.'

'Am I stressing you out?'

'My stomach is twisting and turning whenever I run into you.'

'Tsk!' He rolled his eyes. 'I'm curious, why did you think with that tiny little brain of yours that it would be such a bright idea to starve yourself?'

'Is it necessary to insult me all the time?'

'No, but it's entertaining.'

She glared at him.

'So? Are you willing to answer my question or have you already forgotten it?'

'I don't have to answer your question.' She said curtly and the atmosphere turned chilly between them.
