Your period had started. You knew it was coming, but you dreaded it. You put on a pad at school before you headed home. Uh oh, time for the mood swings.
Your normally enthusiastic and happy attitude would be quickly replaced with a sad and isolated one.
The mood started to kick in as you walked home to your shared apartment with Daichi. It would be an hour until he got home from volleyball.
Your stomach started to hurt, so you heated up a heating pad. As you were waiting for it to get warm, you changed into one of Daichi's t-shirts, which was notably oversized on you, and just some fresh underwear. You were only wearing a t-shirt and underwear, with a blanket over your head like a hunched over goblin.
You sat on the couch, attempting to ignore the pain and flipped through Netflix to see if there was anything that caught your eye. Nothing really did, though.
You reheated your heating pad as it's therapeutic warmth died away. You continued to sit on the couch in pain until the door swung open.
This is where your 'isolation' mood came in.
Daichi didn't know you were on your period, so he went and tried hugged you. "Hey baby," he said.
Before he could hug you you gently punched him away and stomped to your room, trying to ignore the pain in your belly.
"Babe-" his voice was cut short from the door slamming shut.
You couldn't make up your simple mind. Your mood would ale your want to be isolated and left alone, but at the same time, you wanted cuddles and to be comforted.
You sat in your blanket cocoon. You never really told Daichi about periods. He didn't know what they were exactly. You were extremely shy about them, not wanting others to know about them except your closest female friends.
You heard a light knock on the door. "May I come in?" he said in a quiet, confused voice.
"No." you replied sternly.
He was silent after that.
You went to the bathroom (there was a bathroom connected to your room) and found your secret stash of pads. You replaced the old one with a fresh one, but then you realized; you were out.
"Ugh." you groaned out loud. You brushed your hair and teeth. You had to go to the store down the street for new ones.
You put on some pants and put a $10 dollar bill in your back pocket.
You opened the door cautiously. Daichi was sitting on the couch, gazing out the window, deep in thought.
You walked over to the front door. "Where are you going? Is everything alright, Y/N?"
"I'm going out." you said, not answering the second question.
"Y/N what's wrong-" once again, his vice was cut off by the door shutting.
As you walked, you felt a pang of guilt well up in your chest. You didn't mean to make him upset or worried, you were just in a 'period funk' is all.
You opened the door and picked out the pads and a candy bar. You handed the cashier the dollar bill.
"Periods, amiright?" The female cashier said, scanning your items.
"Tell me about it."
She smirked as she handed you your bag. "Take care, sis." she said with a friendly tone.
You smiled back at her. "Thanks, you too!"
You began to trek to your apartment, not looking forward to facing your boyfriend. He was so kindhearted and caring, and it broke your heart you acted like this. Your truly hated periods.
You opened the door slowly and kicked off your shoes. "Y/N, are you okay?" Daichi said, taking the bag from your hands.
He was just being polite, trying to help you. But you didn't want him to see the contents of the plastic bag.
"Daichi, no!" you reached for it, but he pulled it away.
"What is up with you? Are you sure you're feeling okay? This is not the Y/N I know." He looked at you with a disappointed expression, like a father scolding a child.
"Please, Daichi." You fists began to clench. Your fingernails dig into your skin. Your face was extremely red with embarrassment. You didn't want him to know.
He set the bag on the counter, removing the contents. He must have though they were groceries or something. He grabbed the large pad package and his expression softened.
You hid your face in your hands. "Y/N..." you ran to your shared room, hiding under the covers and sobbing.
He knows....
He opened the door quietly without warning. "Y/N."
You didn't answer.
He sat on the bed and drew the covers over his head, joining you.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
You shook your teary head.
"I don't know much about these, but I want to help. I want to help you."
You were surprised. He wanted to help? You assumed he would be grossed out or gag or something.
