"What the fuck?" Mila asked under her breath. Pushing through the crowded halls, she was soon led to what she believed to be her locker.
"Perks of having me as a friend?" Jasmine said turning towards her. "I know my way around here and teachers love me."
"Those aren't the only things that love you." Adriana laughed. Jasmine rolled her eyes before slapping her arm.
"Anyways," Madeline said turning back to Mila who was now placing her evening classes books into her locker. "I hope you have fun here with us and I also hope you don't mind our group of friends." She said jerking her head over to Nate, the boy who commented on Mila earlier, and two other boys.
"That's Jaden, the boy who mentioned you, Derek, he plays football with Jaden and Nate so they're cool, and Nate, which you've already met." Aaliyah said pointing all of the boys out.
As if they could hear their introduction Derek slowly looked up at the group before grinning at Mila.
She should've known he'd have a fuck boy demon smile.
Typical.
Quickly flashing a tight lipped smile she hurriedly turned back to her new found friends and cousin.
Catching what had just went down they laughed at the girl only stopping at the sound of the first bell.
"You got the same schedule as me." Aaliyah told her. Soon enough she was once again drug through the halls.
☹
Seated in class Mila's eyes flickered across the room, completely ignoring the conversation the group of girls were having.
They were seated in Algebra 2, and, so far, she had learned the work was easy, especially with a sub and a one page worksheet.
"Hey." She heard a country accent again. Turning her head she was face to face with Nathan.
"Hi, again." She spoke. Turning around some more she noticed Derek and Jaden also. Nodding at the two, she introduced herself.
"I'm Mila, Aaliyah's cousin." Jaden nodded and Derek perked up.
"Derek." He then pointed over. "And that's Jaden. So where are you from?" Derek asked. Mila's semi-good mood slightly faltered.
"Uh." Quickly glancing at the clock and noticing she still had 40 more minutes til dismissal she sighed. "About 8 hours out. I'm from St. Louis."
"I'm originally from Murfreesboro." Nate told her. The puzzle piece that explained his accent. She laughed at the realization.
