Avery's POV

I timidly lifted a finger and pushed it on the doorbell, waiting for a few moments until the door was suddenly thrown open.

"Dad."

I breathed out.

"Avery."

He returned the tearful smile and I immediately wrapped my arms around him, sobbing quietly as he stroked my back in a calming manner.

"I missed you, Dad."

I cried while he kissed my hair.

"I missed you too, Aves."

His voice cracked and I gently broke the hug, grinning up at him as he lovingly cupped my face.

"Despite everything, it's good to have the two of you back here."

Henry smiled widely and stepped in for his own embrace as well, after which we were quickly ushered into the house and the door was securely locked.

"Avery? Henry?"

My ears perked at the sound of that sweet voice and my eyes shot up, widening at the scene that they beheld.

"Oh my god, Avery!"

Mom squealed as if she were over the moon as she rapidly descended down the rickety old set of stairs to engulf me in her arms, quickly wiping the tears from her face before pecking my forehead and then deciding to choke Henry too. However, as delighted as we were to see her, neither of us could really get our eyes off off her belly.

Her swollen belly.

"Mom."

She swiftly smiled at me, concentrating her full attention on my words.

"You're, um, you're-"

"Pregnant?"

She interrupted my astonished fumbling while shrugging awkwardly.

"I know what you're thinking. How we're thinking of having a baby in this situation and everything but honestly."

She smiled slightly.

"Life is not as abnormal here as it might've been in the original Neverland. In fact, when Pan found out, he even said that no harm would come to the new addition of this town as long as it didn't get in his way."

"That's what he said, not what he actually meant."

Our gaze shifted to the other two entities who walked down the stairs and our hearts exploded with relief.

"Mom! Hook!"

Henry exclaimed in excitement as the two of us rushed up to hug them tightly, after which we all were positioned down at the table with a cup of hot cocoa served to both me and Henry.

"I know that circumstances aren't as ideal as they should be for a baby, but we need to learn to live with whatever we have."

Mom continued to defend this extremely bold step that she and Dad had taken.

"I never got to witness the growing years of both my children."

Emma and I glanced at each other as she firmly clasped our hands from across the table.

"And as proud as I am of the two of you, I do want one baby whose first word is something that I can hear or whose first step is something that I can see."

"Mom-"

"Emma."

Dad interjected.

"Pan is a formidable foe. We never know when we can defeat him, or if we can defeat him at all. So we need to cherish whatever few moments we have. They are never going to return to us again."
