Henry's POV

I sat next to Mom in a booth at Granny's, watching silently as she furiously texted Avery away on her cell.

"I'm sure she's fine, Mom."

I tried to reassure her and she managed a smile for my sake, ruffling my hair before returning her concerned gaze to her phone.

"I really hope she is, kid, because with this whole New Neverland thing going on, I-"

The bell chimed as the door flew open and Avery walked in, apparently exhausted after an exerting run.

"Avery, where the hell were you?!"

My mother immediately shot to her feet and stormed towards our sister, leaving me in my seat to watch the two siblings with a small smile on my face. It was very similar to the wars the two of us would wage against each other every time Mom brought home a new comic book. My smile grew as the two ladies finally walked back to our booth and Avery slammed a rustic little book down on the table, grinning widely.

"I used to read this back in Neverland. Now though, I think it's time that it moved on to you."

My brows furrowed as I slowly pulled the collection of pages towards me and flipped it open, only to sense my pupils enlarge when I found an illustration of Hook conversing with a boy who could've been no older than me. The text that went with the picture indicated the boy was named Baelfire.

"Pan used to give me books which narrated the tales of all the Lost Boys who had ever lived on Neverland, dead or alive but mostly dead, to help me learn how to read and to also let me enjoy some of the saddest yet most thrilling stories ever. This tale, Henry."

Avery gently clasped my hand across the table.

"Is of your father and my best friend. But I have already cherished it. Now it's your turn."

I smiled and nodded once, squeezing my own best friend's hand in gratitude.

"Thanks, Aves."

"No problem."

"Does Pan know about what you have done?"

I could distinctly hear Mom asking Avery as I began to get indulged in the world that had once been my father's, but she simply shrugged and replied that he did know though he didn't exactly express any resentment about her move. The topic of the conversation shifted soon enough when Granny brought in three plates steaming with the favourite breakfast for all of us, and that was the end of it.

Or so I thought.

Apparently, Grandpa and Grandma were still extremely excited about a completely different issue.

"Henry! Henry!"

My ears perked at Grandma's voice as she came barging towards me, much to everyone else's chagrin about a pregnant woman running around so carelessly, and a second book was thumped down in front of my face that day. This one though, was my own.

"I can't believe it!"

I exclaimed giddily as a strong emotion of euphoria washed all over me and I tightly embraced the Once Upon A Time book to my chest, beaming brightly.

"Where did you find it?"

I asked in an overjoyed voice and Grandma shrugged, though the ecstatic smile never wavered from her lips.

"Appeared in my closet as usual. Although this time, I think it appeared because David and I needed it the most."

I glanced at Mom and Avery who seemed as perplexed as me, until Grandpa coaxed us to take our seats again while he and Grandma joined us.
