Nagato spent a solid three weeks searching and planning. He had one of the Akatsuki members, Deidara, go search for Naruto. He gave Deidara a description and told him to report back in three days. After two and a half days, Deidara came back with confirmation that Naruto was indeed alive and well. Nagato paid him a few thousand ryo. He spent the next two weeks getting as healthy as he could. He had a disease that caused his muscles to deteriorate over time and his injuries from the Third War caused his condition to worsen. Any serious bruises or tears in his muscles wouldn't heal and deteriorate faster than they should. He still hadn't found a cure, but he never let that stop him. He kept up with all medications and worked out to help counteract the deterioration.
Konan tried to talk him out of it, but he refused to listen. She continued for a few days, but just stopped mentioning it. She still didn't want him to leave, but she stopped arguing. Nagato was relentless and continued planning. He spent the last few days packing for his trip to Konoha. He had just grabbed several pairs of clothes and some supplies he would need. He tossed it all into a backpack zipped it up.
"Nagato, please. You shouldn't be traveling from here to the Hidden Leaf. You know you aren't in great health." Konan tried talking him out of it again.
"I'm doing better, but do you want to come?" Nagato asked.
"I-I,um...no. But-" Konan tried arguing.
"I'm going either way." He stated.
Konan left his room and paced the hallway for several minutes while he was packing. She eventually gave in and walked back to his room. She walked up behind him. He opened his mouth to argue, but Konan put her finger against his lips. He closed his mouth and looked up at her with a confused expression. She looked at him and then to his backpack and sighed. She took everything out and began folding his clothes neatly. She reorganized all of his supplies and clothing in his backpack. After she replaced everything neatly, she picked up his bag and handed it to him. He just stared at her for a few moments. She smiled as she wiped a few tears from her cheeks. She handed him three paper flowers and hugged him.
"Good luck." She whispered.

Karin spent five weeks doing research on the clan and all the members. As far as she could tell, there was one other member besides her. She talked to Sasuke about Naruto to get as much info as possible. The rest of Team Taka tried to talk her out of it. She still insisted, though.
Sasuke stopped when she promised she wouldn't tell Naruto where he was, Juugo gave up when he realized how important it was to her, but Suigetsu never gave up. He tried to get her to stay but she refused to listen. He eventually decided to help her with her packing. He went out and grabbed some supplies that she needed while she got her clothes together. She finished packing her bag and reached for it. Before she could pick it up, Suigetsu snatched it.
"Suigetsu, please." She sighed.
"Don't leave." He stated.
"You don't understand how important this is." She reached for her bag, only for Suigetsu to hold it above her head.
"You don't understand." He argued.
"I haven't seen any of my blood relatives in several years. Please." Karin sat down on her bed.
Suigetsu sat next to her. "Please don't leave."
She put her hand on Suigetsu's arm. "Suigetsu, this is really important to me."
He sat her bag down and put his hands on her shoulders. "Karin, you are really important to me."
"And you're important to me, too. But I also want to see my other family." She explained.
A few tears rolled down Suigetsu's face. "You are like my sister. I don't want to lose you."
"You won't lose me. I will come back. I will be gone for two weeks, but I will come back." Karin assured him.
Suigetsu nodded and let go of Karin's shoulders. She picked up her bag and and slung it over her shoulder. She walked out to the living room and sat her bag next to the door. She let herself fall onto the couch. Suigetsu landed on the other end of the couch. Karin decided to leave in the morning before sunrise so she could make it to her first stop before sunset. She fell asleep on the couch that night. The next morning around three, she woke up. She walked to the door and grabbed her bag. As she reached for the handle, Suigetsu hugged her from behind.
"I hope you find him." He whispered quietly.

Naruto spent five and a half weeks actually reading in his free time. He could usually be found in the library or hiding away in his room. He gave Sakura a key to his house if she needed him. He almost always had a stack of books and scrolls on his bed. He would sit against his bed on the floor with a book. He would read for hours and sometimes fell asleep on the floor, book in hand. Sakura was impressed that he could read for more than an hour let alone multiple hours a day for several weeks. She would occasionally stop by and talk to him. She tried to get him out of the house, but he refused. She couldn't even get him to Ichiraku. She assured Teuchi, that Naruto was in fact alive still.
Sakura tried talking him out of it. She was worried he things wouldn't turn out like she expected. He refused to listen to her. Kakashi just bluntly told him to drop it and that would only disappoint him. Naruto just dismissed his pessimistic teacher. Even Tsunade tried getting him to leave it. Even she didn't know if there were other Uzumaki clan members. She had been a nuke-nin for at least twenty years and had never met another Uzumaki. She even talked it over with Jiraiya and he hadn't ever met an Uzumaki. He said he trained a red headed boy, but he was just an orphan in Ame that didn't come from a clan. Naruto still didn't stop after being told by told by multiple people including his friend, his teacher, and two Sannin.
"Naruto, please reconsider this. No one can find any traces of the Uzumaki clan." Sakura explained.
"Nope. I'll find them. I know they're out there." Naruto stated.
"Naruto-" Sakura was interrupted.
Naruto put his hands over his ears. "LALALALALA!"
"Really? That's what it's down to? Okay." Sakura muttered.
Sakura slapped Naruto across the face. "Ow! What was that for?"
"To bring you to your senses. Don't get your hopes up. Your clan along with the entirety of Uzushiogakure was decimated." Sakura stated.
Naruto's demeanor suddenly changed. "You are not going to stop me, Sakura."
Naruto stormed off towards his apartment. Sakura sighed and slowly followed. Naruto slammed his door and resumed reading. He sat there until Sakura opened his door. She bent down and hugged him.
"Let me help." She said.
