"One and Only You"
There are two Akashis.
Kuroko had already mentioned this in middle school but you didn't take it seriously since it didn't really make sense. Not until you entered high school. Being his closest friend, you were always by Akashi's side, supporting him in his tournaments from time to time. The more he played basketball, the more you came to ponder upon his seemingly two deflecting personalities.
It didn't take too long for you to notice the occasional change of the look in his eyes whenever he plays. The color of his eyes changed as well. They were now heterochromatic, with his left being yellow-orange. He was still a freshman yet he already became the captain of the Rakuzan Basketball Team which left even you in shock. He was that powerful. Whenever he's on the court, the Akashi you knew from your childhood disappears into thin air. You would do anything just to bring him back.
You had heard about his ability called the 'emperor eye' that somehow allows him to see the future, making him predict his opponent's move. It was a great factor for him to use in his plays, yes, but you hated to admit that you didn't like it. This other personality of his tormented you so much that it kept you up every night ever since the day you noticed. This manipulative, violent and intimidating Akashi, who thinks that he's in absolute power– as much as it helped him win, you detest it.
(A/N: okay no hate to the 'other' Akashi! That side of him is really attractive to me lol esp in the knb:last game movie jahdjabdjsjds he had me head over heels for him ><)
Sitting by the bleachers, you were already close to fainting while watching Rakuzan play against Seirin. It was beyond intense. You had seen several of Akashi's games before but this was overwhelmingly too much for you to bear. The plays were too fierce and ghastly that you had a hard time following what was going on. The first part of the game already started with a ruckus but since Seirin's will to fight back didn't fade at all, they only became stronger and was making Rakuzan back down slowly.
Time out for Rakuzan and you could see Akashi hanging his head low while sitting on the benches. He was personally defeated by both Kagami and Kuroko earlier and you knew that he was feeling afflicted since he never experienced losing, not even once in his entire life. You were extremely worried for him.
You didn't know what happened but you saw him stand up and the smile on his face made your breathing stop. His eyes also returned to being red. That smile was from the old Akashi, the smile you thought you would never see again.
(Time Skip)
The game ended with Seirin's victory over Rakuzan. Your concern for Akashi's emotions increased because of this but you were surprised to see him smiling to Kuroko with tears in the corners of his eyes. You knew he was back to his old self and you couldn't stop yourself from tearing up as you ran down the bleachers to greet his team.
Seirin was taking pictures when you arrived. Kuroko spots you from afar and his eyes widen. "Y/N-san?"
"Tetsuya!" you exclaim, a wide grin appearing on your face before you ran to him. "Long time no see! Congrats! That was an awesome game!"
"Thank you." he sends back a smile. "Are you alone?"
You shake your head. "I'm with Seijuro." you reply, searching for the team but you couldn't see any sign of them. "Speaking of which, where did they go?"
