Chapter Seven

Can't Kick Up The Roots (Neck Deep)

"i've seen a punch or two, narrowly escaped a few"

Rafe Cameron never punches first. He keeps pushing and pushing until the other person strikes. Unfortunately, I was the one who struck.

My fist crashed into his nose, and the crack was sickening. Rafe's head snapped to the side, blood spurting from his nose as I stepped back. JJ whistled from closer to the fire.

"Get him, Sienna!" The blonde boy shouted, clearly drunk

"You're gonna regret that." Rafe said, righting himself and balling his hand into a fist

"Woah, Rafe, buddy." John B pleaded "We don't need to do this; Sienna is just a little drunk. That's all."

"Stay out of it, Routledge." Topper snapped

As I was preparing to walk away, Rafe struck, hitting the side of my face hard enough to send me tumbling to the sand. I kicked out my almost bare foot and tripped the older, taller boy to the ground before getting on top of him to land another solid punch to Rafe Cameron's face.

"You're going to regret that." Rafe hissed, grabbing my wrists and aggressively throwing me on to the ground, an arm around my throat. "Well, it's been a while since we were in a position like this. As I recall, it ended with you begging me to-"

I lashed out with a yell, my knee making swift contact with Rafe's groin. I shoved him off me and got to my feet, Vittoria jumping in front of me.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" She shouted, "If I ever so much as hear you talk about my family, I will kill you."

"Oh yeah?" Rafe laughed, Kelce and Topper helping him to his feet "Who are you?"

"I'm Vittoria Franca Barba." Vit said, stalking towards my ex-boyfriend "And you messed with the wrong family. Stay away from my sister."

"Oh, the little tramp is your sister? Where have you been these past three years? Never seen ya before."

That's when Vittoria struck, starting the entire debacle again as Topper rushed towards me, daringly throwing the first punch. I took Topper to ground. The scrawny rich boy didn't stand a chance.

"You wanna rethink that, Thornton?" I scoffed, putting the boy in an aggressive headlock

"Not really, Barba." Topper spat back

I shoved his head into the sand to muffle his whining.

"Guys!" Pope shouted, "Someone called the cops!"

"What?" I cried, letting go of my grip on Topper. "Get Vittoria out of here!" I rushed over to where Vit and Rafe were throwing punches. Somehow, they were both still on their feet as John B and I managed to pull my sister away. "Get inside! I don't want you going back to jail!"

I did a quick head count to make sure everybody was inside before looking back to see the two beaten up Kooks fleeing the scene. Figures. My sister could go back to jail for the smallest infraction, but Rafe and Topper are getting off scot-free.

After Kiara and I reasoned with Shoupe, Pope and Kie decided to head out. JJ was so drunk he could hardly walk, so mom was making him stay with us, which was fine by me.

"I'm going for a swim." I called out before walking out the patio door. When I couldn't sleep, or I'd just had a really long day, I went for a ten- or twenty-minute dip in the ocean, just to think.

I slipped out of my shorts and let out my hair before jumping into the ocean, tasting the saltwater on my lips as I cam up for air, the moon shining down on my tanned skin and reflecting off my light hair.

"Mind if I join you?" A voice called from behind me. John B was standing on the dock, already unbuttoning his outrageously patterned Hawaiian shirt "You look like an angel." The tall boy smiled before jumping into the water next to me.

"When did you become such a sap?' I giggled, wrapping my arms around his neck as he placed a kiss on my jaw

"Since watching you beat the crap out of Rafe. It was incredibly hot."

I hummed as I wrapped my legs around his torso and pecked the boy on the lips. "And why is that?"

John B laughed "You think I can explain it?"

I laughed, kissing John B passionately as he backed us against one of the supports for the dock, his hands roaming my body.

John B had this way about himwhere when it was just the two of us together, nothing else mattered. I couldn'tthink about anything else. Care about anything else. It was just the two of us,here, in the water, his hands snaking down my thighs with the material of my bikini

bottoms going with them. Nothing but the two of us moulded together, muffled moans breaking the quiet.

"Sienna? You forgot your- HOLY JESUS MOTHER OF ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY? OH MY GOD!" Vittoria shouted, followed soon by the muffled thunk of two towels hitting the sand "Excuse me while I go and bleach my eyes!"

John B and I laughed, climbing out of the water. I dried myself off, wrapping my torso in his shirt as he threw his towel around my neck and picked me up, walking back to the house.

"Upstairs for round two?" The brunette asked

"Definitely." I grinned, placing a gentle kiss to his neck
