[ Jahseh ]

The sound of the basketball bouncing against the floor echoed in my ears as I watched Stokeley Goulbourne, one of the most popular kids of our previous high school, and now the captain of our college basketball team, dribble the ball. All of the sounds of the crowd talking and cheering were muffled to me and everything seemed to go in slow-motion. I could only focus on him, everything else was blurry. He made a left lay-up and jumped up at his second step, aiming for the outter point of the square on the backboard, shooting his shot and scoring. The ball went through the rim and into the net with ease. The whole gym stood to their feet and cheered as he gave his commonly known friend and team player, Jordan Carter, a quick dap-up.

As the opponent team positioned themselves under the rim to pass the ball out and continue the game, the buzzer gave out a loud buzz. It snapped me back to reality - Half time. I blinked a few times, adapting to reality again. The buzzer gave me a headache. I closed my eyes, but when I opened them again I realized I had lost track of where Stokeley was. I glanced over the court, and then at his team. And right there, in the middle of the court and alongside his teammates, he was standing - shirtless this time. He swung his newly taken off shirt across his shoulder and walked towards the chairs, grabbing a towel and wiping the sweat that was dripping down his bare caramel fudge brown chest. I could only hum quietly for myself as I spotted the beads of sweat drip down his belly. He wasn't ripped, but not chubby either. His body was just slightly, almost perfectly, toned. I licked my lips at the sight of his sweat beaded skin, but got cut off.

"Hellooo? Earth to Jahseh" Symere shouted, waving his hands in my face.

"I- what? I mean, uh I'm sorry what were you saying?" I replied confused, still trying to come back from wherever the fuck I had just zoned out to.

"You best not be staring at Jordan" He said with an attitude.

I blushed and smacked Symere lightly up on his head "No dummy, why the hell would I be looking at your mans?" I rolled my eyes.

Symere had always had a crush on Jordan, ever since we all started high school together. See, Jordan wasn't really Symere's "mans". In fact, I don't even think Jordan's gay. But it made Symere satisfied when I called him that. I looked at Sy, who was now proudly smiling at my choice of words. I had a crush on Stokeley since high school too. Well, more of a hallway crush. I doubt he knows who I am though. I kept to my own little clique in high school, Stokeley was the popular basketball player. You know how the story goes.

"Who were you looking at then.." I just stared at him in disbelief. He knew exactly who I was looking at, and I knew damn well he wasn't this slow.

"I'm fucking with you, you was looking at Stokeleyyy! I seen iiit" He dragged the vocals teasingly, turning his back slightly and rolling his shoulder, smirking at me. I blushed again.

"Fucking goof" I laughed at him and engulfed his 5'4 figure in a hug. Both our frames were small, but I was slightly taller, at 5'6.

We shared some more laughs that eventually died down, leaving Symere to suggest us getting some slushies. I really wanted a blueberry one, since it matches my blue hair. And of course, Symere just wanted a cherry one, to be able to match his hair too, being re,. I agreed to his suggestion as we walked out of the gym, a slushie sounded good as fuck right now. Right outside the gym, they had put up a little slushie-stand. I bought my blue one, and Sy bought his red one after we had been standing in line for about 5 minutes. Eventually we made our way inside the gym and found our seats again.
