Chapter three - When I get engaged

I reached home crying, I was mess. My eyes were red and teary. I know after watching me like this my mom and dad would get worried but today I can't able to control myself. My heart is paining whenever I remember his venomous words. I never felt this much humiliated or insulted. He did that in front of everyone. How can he?

In these four months, I've never told my parents about my office life. They never knew I cry in nights . I don't want to bother them  but today I can't, I can't stop the tears that were spilling out of my eyes. I can't handle myself. Today, whatever happened back in office was wrost. Nobody, yelled on me like Neil sir did everytime. He's so cruel, and partial. He never acknowledged my work always tired to find mistakes to yell on me.

With shaking hands, I rang the house bell. Few moments later,  mom opened the door. She looked so happy, her face was glowing. I wondered why?

Without greeting her, I ran to my room crying. I could hear my dad and mom shouting my name asking what happened but I didn't had any courage to stop myself.

I came to my room and jumped onto the bed. I buried my head into the pillows and sobbed. Tears poured out wetting the pillow but I didn't care. Today, all I want to do is to take the pain out. It was exhausting, hiding tears from parents.

"Avni.. " I heard whisper of mom. I know she'd come to me. They love me so much, but what I'm giving them in return?

"Ha...Mom! " I chocked out.

"What happened Avni?" She caressed my hairs lovingly, I looked up at her with red teary eyes.

"You are making me worry, what happened Avni ? " she asked wiping my tears.

"Everything is mess mom! " I sobbed and hugged her.

"Shh! Tell me what happened! I'm here for you. " She whispered in my ear while I clutched into her arms tightly.

"That Moron! How dare him to say like that to my daughter. " Mom fumed, her face was red as tomato.

I stayed silent.

"Why didn't you tell me all this earlier? " She asked with anger.

"I didn't want to make you worry! " I sniffed.

"Avni, you're our child.  Our life , you should have just told me all this before! " She sighed, her happy face which I witnessed when I entered home is gone. I felt guilty.

"Mom, you were happy before why? " I questioned.

"Leave it! It's not a time! " she says caressing my cheek.

"Mom, tell me. " I frowned. My stubborn character would never let any matter go easily.

She sighed.

"There's been a marriage proposal for you." She mumbled.

"Oh! " Was my reaction.

"His name is Nihal, your dad's friends son. He's nice guy, have a decent job . So we want you to marry him. " she says dropping huge bomb on me.

Marriage is a huge responsibility and am I ready for it? I never had a boyfriend as I'm really conservative and shy girl. But now, I need a distraction, I want Happiness in my life and I think marriage is best for it.

"Mom, I'm ready for the marriage. Say yes to them.  " I whispered.

Her eyes widened with shock but soon a huge smile crept on her face.
