"Knock knock," Bright turned toward the door from where the sound came.
"Who is it?" he asked.
"May I come in?" When he recognized the voice, he opened the door right away.
"Oh, hey Mom. What brought you into my room?" he asked.
"Oh, Bright, honey, I just wanted to let you know that we're moving to a different town tomorrow."
"Move again? Mom... we move every month," he grumbled. "So I guess I'm saying goodbye to the friends I literally just made—again—because we're moving to another town."
"I'm sorry, honey," she said softly. "I know this is hard. But we have to move because your father's new job is there. He promised this would be the last time."
He sighed. "You said that before too, but fine."
"Thank you for your patience, honey; I know we move a lot, but it's for the best," she smiled.
"I know, I understand. Don't worry," he said, giving her a reassuring smile.
"Sleep tight, honey—and pack your things, alright?" she said, kissing Bright's forehead.
"Okay, Mom. You too," he replied, then frowned. "And Mom—seriously. Stop calling me that. It's embarrassing."
His mother only laughed.
"Why not, honey? It's cute!"
"MOM!" he shouted.
"Alright, son, I'll stop," she joked. "Wake up in five and pack your belongings, okay?" He nodded, and she walked out of the room.
He took a shower, the smell of the spilled sauce still lingering in his nostrils. Afterward, he went straight to bed, his thoughts drifting to the new town they were moving to.
Is it pleasant there? Will he be able to enjoy his life? Will he make new friends? The questions repeated in his head until his eyes grew heavy and everything faded to black.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I presume this is going to be a short story? But, hehe, I hope you liked the first half. There isn't much in this chapter, so I'll probably go on to the next one. I'll be posting two chapters, this one and part 2. Byeeee~~~
