**two months later**

I took a deep breath of the L.A. ocean air, as I leaned over the balcony.
A week off. Paid trip to the beach.
I closed my eyes and listened to the waves crash against the shore.

I heard my glass doors slide open.
I looked back to see Calum.

"Hey." I said, surprised at his presence.
"Hey." He nodded. He stood right beside me and looked out at the beach.

"Not to be rude or anything but did you need something? You haven't talked to me since the whole situation with your girlfriend." I said, annoyed.

Last month Calum's girlfriend came to one of the boys' concerts to surprise him but he didn't exactly seem happy. I overheard them in an argument where his girlfriend- Ella - was scolding him about not contacting her at all since they'd began tour. I didn't even know Calum had a girlfriend and apparently no one else in the band did either, other than Luke. She came out of nowhere and at that point in time he didn't even seem interested in her at all. Anyway, he stopped talking to me in the process so I had to hear from Luke that he broke things off with Ella after he told her he didn't even know why he'd asked her out in the first place. Ouch.

"I just needed to see you. It doesn't matter." He said before turning and leaving the room. My hotel door slammed shut.

I put my face against my palms. I shouldn't have come here. I should've tried harder to explain at the beginning that I don't belong here.I should've never let them push me onto that stupid bus. It's only been a little over two months and I've already gained and  lost a best friend.

I walked to my suitcase, grabbed a floral print bikini, and slipped it on. I picked up a beach towel from the lobby and headed to the shoreline.

I watched the children playing in the sand and building castles with their parents. Will I be able to have that someday? Or will I be locked up in some jail cell for impersonation?

With a sigh, I laid back on the warm sand and closed my eyes.

After an hour on the beach, I decided to grab a smoothie. I saw another girl from the styling team and sat beside her. She was around my age, Maya was her name.

"Oh, hey Toronto!" She smiled. She turned to face the smoothie guy and introduced me. "Toronto, Josh. Josh, Toronto."

We said hi and then I turned back to face Maya.
"I don't know what to do with so much time off." I laughed.
"I know." she smiled. "It's nice though. We do this whenever we get a chance. Management says the boys need breaks so hey. I'm definitely not complaining."
I laughed and ordered a strawberry banana smoothie.
"Soooo I've noticed you and Calum spending quite some time together." she winked. "Although lately you haven't been speaking? What's going on with you two?"

"Oh, nothing. It's nothing." I said quickly.

"Oh, okay." she laughed. She wasn't buying it at all. "Well I'm just saying you guys would be adorable together. He's got the whole band look going on with a soft side and you've got that whole cute but strong thing going on. It'd be a power couple. The journalists would eat that up."

"Woah slow down." I laughed. "we're just friends. Or at least we were before things with Ella."

"Oh yeah! I heard about that." She gave me a small smirk. "See you say you're just friends, but if that's true then why did this thing with Ella cause a fallout? Doesn't sound like you're just friends to me."

Why did Ella cause us to stop talking? Hm.

"Well it was nice talking to you but I'm getting a sunburn. I'll see you later!" I smiled, getting up from my seat. She surprised me by pulling me into a hug. I hadn't been hugged for years.
