I can't breathe, can you help me

Chapter 11

When Adrien woke up it was around 11:30 am, which surprised him because Nathalie or his father would let him sleep in that late, after he got dressed and Plagg ate a couple of pieces of camebert and was hidden in his shirt, Adrien was about to leave his room but when he opened the door he nearly ran into his father.
"Adrien, you're awake." Gabriel commented, Adrien thought he heard a sigh of relief coming from his father but he must have mistaken it.
"Yeah, neither you nor Nathalie let me sleep in this long, why today?" Adrien asked.
"Well Nathalie tried waking you up at the normal time but she couldn't wake you, she informed me and I told her that you were probably just tired and to let you sleep for another couple of hours, when those two hours were up and she still couldn't wake you, I tried waking you but even I couldn't wake you. If you didn't wake up on your own by one in the afternoon I was going to bring a doctor here to check on you." Gabriel answered, and Adrien felt bad for making his father worry.
"I should be making you rest, but a couple minutes ago your friend Nino, who has been trying to call you all morning.....that's what he said.....informed Nathalie that your friend Marinette isn't able to move and is barely able to talk.....so I'm allowing you to go over to her place for today." Gabriel said, Gabriel knew he was a cold man but he wasn't heartless and he knew his son would hate him if he didn't allow him to see his friend for what was most likely the last time.
"But when I texted her last night, it seemed like she was fine." Adrien said, he could feel his heart breaking and he could barely breath, and when he saw her as Chat, she was moving and talking just fine.
"A lot can happen in a few hours, now go to your friends." Gabriel said, Adrien quickly finished getting dressed and raced outside, Adrien was able to reach Marinette's home in about twenty minutes, and when he raced inside the bakery, Marinette's mother showed him inside the actually house.
"Adrien, you're here." Nino said, as Marinette's mother showed him into Marinette's room, both Nino and Alya were there.
"Marinette." Adrien said.
"Over here." Nino replied, then he led Adrien over to Marinette's bed, where Marinette was laying....Alya was sitting next to her, and it was obvious that Marinette was trying to talk to her but it wasn't working out too well, but she stopped when she saw Adrien with Nino, Alya looked over to them.
"Alya, let's leave them alone for a few minutes." Nino said, as he pointed to Adrien, Alya nodded her head and the two left the room leaving Adrien and Marinette alone, unbeknown to Adrien and Marinette, Plagg flew over to where Tikki was.....hidden behind a pillow on Marinette's bed.
"Plagg, what are you doing, Marinette could have seen you?" Tikki whispered, loud enough to where Plagg would hear her but nobody else.
"I don't care if she did, that girl is dying...and you know what happens if she does, now whatever Adrien says let him say it, they're ready.....and once this is over we're revealing ourselves to them." Plagg said, Tikki looked at him for a second then nodded her head.
"You didn't tell Adrien what would happen if Marinette dies, did you?" Tikki asked.
"No, I wouldn't do that to him.....all I know is that I don't want to lose either one of them to this illness." Plagg answered.
"Me neither, now let's pay attention to our miraculous holders." Tikki said, Plagg nodded his head and the two turned their attention towards Marinette and Adrien.
"Marinette." Adrien whispered, he sat down next to Marinette.
"Adrien, sorry we couldn't make it to Andre's today." Marinette whispered, Adrien felt like his heart was being crushed.
"Don't you dare die on me Marinette." Adrien said, he placed his hand......the one that held Plagg's ring on it, and placed it on top of Marinette's right ear, the ring laying right on top of the earring that was there.
"I'm sorry." Marinette apologized, and her eyes started to close, Adrien felt tears running down his face and he didn't know why he did it but he laid down next to Marinette and pulled her closer to him.
"No Marinette, keep your eyes open, please let me save you from this, so I can protect you from what I can.....so I can promise you that you can have all of me for eternity.......so I can promise you I love you and you'll be the only one that I want." Adrien whispered, when Marinette still closed her eyes, Adrien sobbed and pressed a kiss to each of her cheek.
"Please open your eyes, I love you." Adrien whispered, but he was starting to feel tired and felt his heart slow down, but when Marinette started to move, Adrien felt himself wake up and his heartbeat went back to normal, when Marinette opened her eyes, Adrien smiled.
"Marinette." Adrien said, hugging the girl tightly.
"Adrien, do you really love me?" Marinette asked.
"Of course." Adrien answered, then to prove his point he kissed her, Marinette returned his kiss.
"Alright, before they do something they're not ready for.....I'm stopping them, Plagg."
Marinette and Adrien stopped kissing and looked over to their right.
"Tikki."
"Plagg."
Marinette and Adrien said at the same.
"Surprise." Plagg said.
"Tikki, who is that?" Marinette asked, pointing at Plagg.
"Plagg.....Chat Noir's kwami." Tikki answered.
"Plagg, who is that?" Adrien asked, pointing at Tikki.
"Tikki.....Ladybug's kwami." Plagg answered, Marinette and Adrien looked at each other.
"Chat?" Marinette asked, Adrien nodded his head.
"Ladybug?" Adrien asked, Marinette nodded her head.
"Well purrincess, it seems like you're full of surprises." Adrien said.
"You are too kitty." Marinette replied, Adrien smiled and kissed Marinette again, this time the kiss went on a little longer.
"Are you two able to sit up?" Tikki asked, Marinette nodded her head and the two sat up.
"Now Adrien were those real promises you made?" Tikki asked.
"They were real." Adrien answered.
"Marinette, do you accept those promises?" Plagg asked.
"Yes." Marinette answered.
"Told you they were ready." Plagg said.
"Behave Plagg." Tikki said, slightly glaring at the kwami.
"Fine, do you want to explain this or have me do it?" Plagg asked.
"I'll tell them, you'll have to do the second part anyway.....if they decide they want to do this." Tikki asked.
"Do what?" Marinette asked.
"Do you know what promise rings are?" Tikki asked, Adrien and Marinette nodded their heads.
"Well if a Ladybug and Chat Noir ever fall in love, said Ladyug and Chat Noir think about marriage and if Plagg and I agree that they're ready for it......well while the earrings will stay my miraculous will be in the form of a promise ring that is fitting of that Ladybug. As for Plagg's ring, it'll have the promises you made etched into it.....if you or whenever you decide to get engaged the my miraculous will turn into an engagement ring, and at the wedding, a wedding ring, the same will happen to Plagg's but the vows will be etched into his." Tikki explained, what she and Plagg were talking about.
"So Adrien, Marinette, do you want that?" Plagg asked.
"Do you want that, Marinette?" Adrien asked.
"Yes, do you?" Marinette asked.
"Yes."Adrien answered.
"Great, let's get started." Plagg said.
"What do we do?" Adrien asked.
"First, Marinette take off the earrings, then Adrien take off the ring, afterwards Adrien put the ring on Marinette's left hand ring finger and repeat the promises you said earlier, Marinette after Adrien has said his promises, say that you accept your promises and will return them in kind for eternity.....then you kiss, after that take off the ring....Marinette will have a promise ring under it, and on the sides of my miraculous will be the promises." Plagg answered.
"Now, you can get started." Tikki said, Marinette slowly took off the earrings, and Adrien took off the ring, then placed it on Marinette's left hand ring finger.
"I promise you that you can have all of me for eternity, I promise you I love you and you'll be the only one I want." Adrien said, then he nodded his head, letting Marinette know he was done.
"I accept your promises and will return them in kind for all eternity." Marinette replied, the two kissed and they took their time with it when the kiss ended, Adrien looked at the ring and saw the promises etched into it, he removed the ring from Marinette's finger and under it was a promise ring, the band itself was silver but was split in two so it was weaving around each other, in the middle of the ring where the band fully connected a sentence was etched into it.
"No matter the obstacle our love will remain true and we'll always find the other for we are one." Marinette said, reading what was etched into the ring.
"So romantic." Tikki said, while Marinette put the earrings back on.
"Overly romantic." Plagg said, while Adrien put Plagg's ring back on.
"I think it fits." Adrien replied.
"Hey, how about you two go downstairs, everyone's probably worried, Plagg and I will stay here." Tikki said.
"Come on Adrien." Marinette said.
"Are you able to stand?" Adrien asked, Marinette nodded her head.
"Ok." Adrien said, the two stood up and walked downstairs in the living room, Marinette's mom (Sabine) and Alya were crying to the point that their entire bodies were shaking, while Marinette's father (Tom) and Nino while not crying, they looked like they were about to.
"Hey, look who is feeling much better." Adrien said, the four looked over at Adrien and Marinette, and the four looked at Marinette in shock.
"Marinette, you couldn't even walk earlier." Sabine said, walking over to her daughter.
"So Adrien, when did you figure out you was in love with Marinette?" Alya asked.
"Marinette, what are you wearing?" Tom asked, everyone looked to where Tom was looking......Marinette's hand......the one with the promise ring.
"It's not an engagement ring, it's a promise ring." Marinette answered, quickly, before anyone thought it was an engagement ring.
"Adrien, you must've just figured out you were in love with Marinette, when did you have to get a promise ring, let alone have that etched into it?" Nino asked.
"It was the day I was here to play video games with Marinette, I don't know why but I had the sudden urge to get a promise ring.....I didn't realize I was thinking of Marinette when I got it, and I guess Marinette was feeling romantic or something that day because she said that...I remembered it and had it etched into the ring. As far as mine goes....it's my regular ring I just had the promises I would make to whom I would love etched into, I was going to give Marinette the ring and tell her my feelings when we went to Andre's today, but she.....well I made it in time." Adrien explained, though not the complete truth, he did plan on confessing to Marinette today.
"That's so romantic." Alya said.
"Yes, it is." Sabine agreed.
"Dude, don't out do me in the boyfriend department." Nino said, looking at Adrien with a very half-hearted glare.
"I'm not going to say sorry." Adrien replied.
"Nor you shouldn't.....I had approved of you before you were my daughter's boyfriend, I still approve of you.....now don't you dare break her heart." Tom warned, looking at Adrien with I'll kill you if you hurt my daughter eyes.
"I don't ever plan on breaking her heart sir." Adrien replied.
"And you can call me Tom." Tom said.
"And you can call me Sabine." Sabine added.
"First name basis already, even Alya's parents won't let me call them by their first names." Nino said.
"You haven't saved me from death nor have you given me a promise ring." Alya replied.
"Ok, fine you have a point." Nino said.
"Hey, can you guys help me get rid of the carnation petals from my room.....I haven't been able to get rid of them?" Marinette asked.
"Sure, Marinette." Alya answered, then Nino, Alya, Marinette and Adrien walked back up to Marinette's room and began to get rid of every last carnation petal in the room, it took a couple of hours but every last carnation petal was gone.
"There all gone." Alya said.
"Great, thank you, it would have taken a lot longer without your help." Marinette replied, Adrien stood beside her, but he wrapped an arm around her waist.
"You know, I can't wait for next week, Chloe is going to freak out when she finds out that you're a couple now." Alya said.
"So is Kagami." Nino added, Marinette winced at the mention of Kagami.
"They'll both just have to live with the fact I'm with Marinette, and it's not going to change." Adrien replied, when he looked at Marinette, he noticed she looked like she was in pain.
"Marinette, are you ok?" Adrien asked, Marinette began to blush at the question.
"Um...I...um....yeah......I'm fine.......nothing." Marinette answered, stumbling over her words, Alya began to laugh as Adrien began to look at her curiously.
"I'll give you two hints, bleeding and month." Alya said, helping Adrien out a little.
"Alya, why would you-"
"Adrien, is going to figure it out eventually." Alya interuppted Marinette's question, Marinette rolled her eyes and watched Adrien figure out the hints Alya gave him, she knew he figured it out when he began to blush.
"I'm sorry Marinette, didn't mean to figure out something personal." Adrien apologized, Alya and Marinette chuckled.
"Hey, I said the same thing when I figured out what Alya was talking about." Nino said.
"It's alright Adrien, Alya was correct you would have figured it out eventually." Marinette said, looking at Adrien with a small smile.
"Come on Nino, let's leave them alone, see you two later." Alya said, then she and Nino left the room, a minute later Tom came into the room.
"I'll leave you two alone, I'm just letting you know that you better behave yourselves if you know what I mean." Tom warned, Marinette and Adrien blushed and nodded their heads, Tom left the room and closed the door, as soon as the door was closed Tikki and Plagg came out of hiding and the two were talking.
"Sugarcube, I'm hungry." Plagg said, looking at Tikki, Marinette and Adrien looked at each other then at the kwami's questioningly.
"Sugarcube?" Adrien asked, looking at Plagg then at Tikki.
"It's his nickname for me." Tikki answered, but Marinette knew she wasn't telling them everything.
"You're not telling us something." Marinette said.
"She's good.....we're married." Plagg replied, Marinette and Adrien looked at the two in disbelief.
"Don't give us that look, is it really that surprising?" Tikki asked.
"No, it's not that, I just never gave it a thought that you would be married." Marinette answered.
"I thought you weren't good at romance." Adrien said, looking at Plagg.
"Oh, he's not I'm just able to handle him but sometimes he can be romantic." Tikki replied.
"Yes, yes, I can be, but right now I'm hungry." Plagg said.
"What do you want?" Marinette asked.
"Camebert." Plagg answered, Marinette looked at the kwami in shock.
"If you don't have it, it's fine." Adrien said.
"Actually I do have it, my dad likes it.....he made me try it once......I'm not a big fan of it, but I think I'll be able to convince my dad I want to try it out again." Marinette replied, then she left the room.
"I like her." Plagg commented.
"You got lucky Plagg." Adrien said, a few minutes later Marinette returned a some camebert and a plateful of cookies and macaroons.
"Camebert." Plagg said, and immediantly grabbed a piece of the cheese.
"You two need to talk with Master Fu, one to let him know you're alright Marinette, and two, to tell him all the new developments between you." Tikki said, as she ate a cookie
"How about we do that after we eat." Marinette said, as she took a bite out of a macaroon.
"Alright." Tikki replied, after they finished eating Marinette and Adrien with a hidden Tikki and Plagg left for Master Fu's place though it did take them a little bit of time to convince Sabine and Tom to let Marinette leave. Once they reached Master Fu's place Marinette knocked on the door, it surprised Marinette and Adrien that Master Fu didn't look surprised to see them both here without them both being Ladybug and Chat Noir.
"Come in, you two." Master Fu said.
"So you have figured out who your partner is." Master Fu continued as they all sat down.
"Yeah and it took them forever to figure it out as well as start dating." Plagg said, as he and Tikki came out of hiding.
"It's nice to see you Plagg, Tikki and it's nice to see you are well again Marinette." Master Fu said.
"I also see that the miraculous's are now promise rings, did you both approve of it?" Master Fu asked.
"Yes, we did....though it was Plagg's idea, as well as to reveal ourselves." Tikki answered, Master Fu nodded his head.
"Marinette, Adrien do you know what it mean's to have the Ladybug miraculous and Chat Noir miraculous as promise rings, engagement rings, and wedding rings?" Master Fu asked, Marinette and Adrien shook their heads.
"It means that after you have dealt with Hawkmoth, you get to keep being Ladybug and Chat Noir....you get to keep Tikki and Plagg." Master Fu said, both Marinette and Adrien looked happy that they were able to keep their friends.
"You two will live very long happy lives, you'll also be the new guardians of the miraculous's." Master Fu said.
"Before you two say anything, I wouldn't have given this a thought if I didn't like you couldn't handle all of this.....you two have been the best Ladybug's and Chat Noir's ever......I'm proud of you." Plagg said, and as he said I'm proud of you, Plagg looked directly at Adrien.
"Thank you." Adrien said.
"You're welcome, and I don't say stuff like that often." Plagg replied.
"More reason to treasure it." Marinette said, Plagg huffed and mumbled something about being too nice, and flew back over to Tikki.
"May I see the rings, you can keep them on?" Master Fu asked, Marinette and Adrien showed him the rings.
"Those are heavy promises, and a heavy saying, but I believe in you two." Master Fu said.
"Thank you." Marinette said.
"You're welcome.....now you two better get going." Master Fu replied, then he showed Marinette and Adrien they way out, Plagg and Tikki following them, once outside Tikki and Plagg hid.
"Do you want to go to Andre's since that was today's plan?" Adrien asked.
"Yeah, do you know where he's at?" Marinette asked, Adrien looked at his phone and checked the hints Andre left to help people find where he was.
"He's next to the flower shop, I got your gloxinias from, it's actually not that far from here." Adrien answered.
"Lets go then." Marinette said, Adrien grabbed Marinette's hand and they walked to Andre's.
"Hello you two, did you figure out a name for the new flavor, everyone keeps asking for a name?" Andre asked, as Marinette and Adrien walked up to the man and his ice cream cart.
"I don't know Andre, the taste is undescribeable." Adrien said, but Marinette looked thoughtful.
"How does gloxinia sound, I always thought they had an undescribeable beauty, they're purple and white, they also mean love at first sight." Marinette suggested.
"That's perfect, thank you, now you two have a good day." Andre said, handing them their ice cream cone with the same flavors they had last time.
"You too, Andre." Adrien replied, then he and Marinette walked away to find a bench to sit on.
"You really can't explain the taste." Marinette commented, as she and Adrien took a bite out of the new flavor Marinette had now named gloxinia.
"No you can't" Adrien agreed, they continued eating their ice cream, once they finished their ice cream Marinette and Adrien stood back up, suddenly Adrien's phone began to ring.
"I'm sorry Marinette." Adrien apologized, Marinette chuckled.
"It's alright, at least check who it is." Marinette said, Adrien kissed Marinette then checked his phone to see who texted him, it was Nathalie.
"It's Nathalie....my father's assistant." Adrien said.
"Are you going to answer it?" Marinette asked.
"No, this is techincally a date, so I'm going to pay attention to you." Adrien answered, Marinette smiled and kissed Adrien on the cheek.
"I love you." Marinette said.
"I love you too." Adrien replied.
"Do you want me to take you back home, you look a little tired?" Adrien asked, it was true Marinette was looking a little tired and if Adrien was being honest he was too.
"Yeah, lets go." Marinette answered, the two walked back to her house but when they did Adrien was surprised to see his bodyguards's car in front of Marinette's home, once they were in the living room, Marinette and Adrien saw Adrien's father talking to Tom and Sabine.
"Father, what are you doing here?" Adrien asked, surprised to see his father somewhere else other than his office.
"I came by to check on you myself when you hadn't answered Nathalie text." Gabriel answered.
"I'm ok, I've been with Marinette." Adrien said.
"Yes.....Tom and Sabine told me everything, you do know the seriousness behind those rings?" Gabriel asked.
"I'm aware, so does Marinette." Adrien answered.
"Alright, well Adrien, I'll let you stay here for another couple of hours but afterwards I want you home." Gabriel said, Adrien nodded his head, then Gabriel left.
"Marinette, Adrien you can go upstairs if you want to but behave yourselves." Sabine said, Marinette and Adrien nodded their heads and left for Marinette's room.
"How many times do you think we're going to here that?" Adrien asked.
"Probably until Marinette's on birth control, but who knows it might go on even after that." Plagg answered, as he and Tikki flew in front of  Marinette and Adrien, Marinette began to blush.
"Plagg, you didn't have to be that blunt about it, Marinette is practically a stop light now." Tikki said.
"It's fine Tikki, I was just surprised." Marinette said, then she looked at Adrien, shyly.
"Can we wait for that for a little bit......I mean I would like to....but-" Marinette was interuppted by Adrien quickly kissing her.
"But you're not ready.....but when you are, I'll make sure it's purrfect." Adrien said.
"Thanks kitty." Marinette replied.
"You're welcome m'lady." Adrien said, Marinette smiled and kissed him, Adrien returned the kiss.
"We don't have to rush, I'm not going anywhere." Adrien whispered, when the kiss ended.
"Me either." Marinette whispered back.
"I love you." Adrien said.
"I love you too." Marinette replied.
