Upon Midnight to Day

Checkup

I had to go take Jaiden for a checkup and so NaNa made Tab go with me,it's her way of letting Tab into my life so we can talk more.

Shai: I got Jaiden dressed looking really cute and adorable like me. Are you ready man man? *he just smiled at me and said yes in his cutest voice* I really wish my baby would speak more words. I mean for god's sake he is 3 and I taught him words when he was little but he seems to never pay attention and it hurts to see him not act like other 3 year olds. *I called tab to make sure he was near because we were riding with him* Tab?

Tab: Hello? Shai? I'm like bout to make my turn into yall neighborhood now. So I'm on my way.

Shai: Okay cool just ring the doorbell so I know you're here.

Tab: Alright see yall in a minute. Bye.

Shai: Bye. *5 minutes later my doorbell rung and it was Tab looking fine as ever and I just stared at him up&down forgetting he was still outside.

Tab: Shai baby? Aye?! *I snapped out of the dream like damn if I could have him now, Jaiden would have another little brother or sister*.

Shai: Oh sorry, come on in. *I motioned him to come on inside*. Alright lemme grab my baby and you just sit there and if you need anything I'm around on the other side grabbing him and my things. *I sed it all fast and shy,he probably thinks I'm weird*. Help yourself to anything while you wait it will only take a second.

Tab: Alright thanks and take yall time. I know little man can be a little difficult to handle. *he smiled at me*

Shai: *I blushed and cleared my throat* Well um lemme get him and my purse. *I turned around and grabbed his baby bag and everything else I needed to take.* Okay let's go were ready as I came back around to the front.

Tab: Alright then let's head out. *I put Jaiden's car seat in my car and we all got in.* Soooo um do you know what the checkup is going to be about?

Shai: Well no but I want to ask the doctor about his speech and why he doesn't like to interact as much as the other kids at his age. It scares me,all I want for my son is to have a nice childhood where no one will judge him. *I looked back at Jaiden and he was knocked out*

Tab: I understand you so don't get worried, he'll be just fine. Maybe it's just more attention he needs. Children want more of something than other things.

Shai: But I give him all the attention I have. We go to the park, we went to Disneyland, and I let him sleep in my bed sometimes. Sometimes I just think it's his father that he misses.

Tab: Maybe that's one of em but look I'm here for yall man so if yall need anything lemme know. Maybe I can take him with me,just me and him spend some time together, I think he'll like that. You have my number just call me and we can schedule a day if you don't mind and I'll take em and you can have a free day.

Shai: *I laughed* A free day sounds really good. I would actually like him to spend time with you because I trust you besides he needs a guy to hang around with rather than his mama all day. Thank you Tab. *I leaned over my seat and kissed his cheek, I feel like I'm letting him in more*.

Tab: *Man Shai just don't know I'll do anything for her and Jaiden. Ever since my sister invited her to that cookout I felt like I had to have her and her son he's just as beautiful as her. I enjoy them but I feel like she deserves a man better than me. Mannnn I don't know it's just me then but well see how everything goes from this point on.* Okay we here. *He parked and we got out,he was carrying Jaiden*.

Shai: I'm kinda nervous I said as we sat down on the seats where the checkup side is suppose to be.

Tab: Listen don't be and if there something going on with him I promise you you'll get through it and I'll be there to help. I got yall man. *as he hugged me, I wanted to make it last forever but the doctor called us back*.

Shai: * we walked in the room they called us to and we sat down, waiting for the pediatrician to come in and she later did*. Hi, nice to meet you I said.

Pediatrician 1: Hello Ms. Brashear. I will be Jaiden's first pediatrician today and the second will take his pee sample and do some basic test to see if his body is developing right. I wanna take some of Jaiden's blood so if you don't mind if daddy holds him while I take it?

Shai: I don't mind and that's n---*i got cut off by Tab*

Tab: *he shook her hand and smiled* yes I'm his father and you want me to hold him down? *he smiled at me*

Pediatrician 1: Yes. I'm just going to roll up his sleeve and put alcohol on his arm. Okay hi sweetie she said to Jaiden. *she gently put the needle in his arm and Jaiden whimpered a little bit but surprised he didn't fight her like a normal child does when they get shots.* Okay look you're all done and you did so good. *she smiled at jaiden*. Here you want a sticker? *She put the sticker on Jaiden* I will call the other pediatrician in here okay? You can ask her any questions you'll like.

Shai: Thank you that's fine. *she walked out and closed the door. I laughed at Tab* Hmmm well dad our son did good. *I smiled*

Tab: Yea he did. *he smiled at me* Sorry if I upseted you because I said I was his father.

Shai: No. It's fine. You know any man can be a father. I'm very happy you came with me today.

Tab: Iam happy too. Maybe we should have more checkups like this for him more often? *he smiled at me and kissed Jaiden's forehead*

Shai: Yea we should *I felt like I was opening more up to him and I liked it. The pediatrician took his test and everything was fine as of the development process but I asked her about the speech and she told me to give it more time and keep on practicing with him but I know there's something up with my baby,there's no doubt in my mind I think he has autism. A mother knows.* Well thank you and I'll be checking back in another 4 1/2 months and thank you.

Pediatrician 2: Okay well alright I will see you guys next time *as she shook both of our hands* for his checkup and you all are very welcomed. Have a great day. *she smiled at us and we walked out*.

Tab: You too. Well lemme drop you guys off at home. I know yall are tired because Iam.

Shai: Okay thanks Tab. *we headed home and he dropped us off at our house and he headed down the street*
