Dad,
Remember when we walked hand in hand,
Laughing like there's no tomorrow,
Drawing our stick figures on the sand,
Never once recollecting the sorrow,
That we were now in..
When I saw you laugh your heart out,
I only saw the day mom died
When your peaceful self, the self i called "boulders"
Shook, and raindrop tears fell on our hands,
Which, you never let go since back then.
We passed by a gift shop
Where I stalled a bit and stared at,
Two beautiful unicorns chains, purple and pink,
And with much effort, tore my eyes away,
But you stopped and went in,
To come back with them glittering in your palm,
Reflecting the glitter in my eyes.
"Link it on my bag please??" I begged
"Do it yourself" you replied with a wink,
But every heart, they say is wretched,
And mine was no different..
You told me not to wander hither,
And I paid no heed,
Your rage turned you into someone i did not know,
And I became someone else too
Words spiralled out before I could stop them,
And the hand that caressed me before,
Hurt me soo much, but not as much as your words did.
I wished for evil to befall
Crawled into a corner and wept.
And dawn found me peeking through the curtains where I saw,
Your visage, weeping as you linked the chains into my bag.
And I too, dad,
Weeped, behind those closed blinds.
