Chapter 6

They've found out. They've found out I didn't kill him when I had the chance.

My knees were weak; they collapsed beneath my body, sending it to the floor. Everything became blurry in my vision. I could barely make out the bathroom stalls.

I could fainlty hear my name being called by numerous voices, and other sets of legs rushed into the bathroom. Four more people.

This was all my fault. If the elders were here, and they knew, they would likely kill all of us. If everyone died, I would be blamed. I could never live that down.

There was a soft pounding in the back of my ears. Arms lifted up my limp body, I was no help. I was thrown over a shoulder - whose shoulder, I had no idea - and I'm pretty sure I was taken out of the bathroom. The rhythym of being carried on a walking person's shoulder lulled me away, and soon enough, everything went black.

How did I become a wolf? I wondered. I could see my paws beneath me, and my vision showed no colour. My breath was ragged as if I had been running, and I sure felt tired. But when did I...

Crack. I jumped into a large section of bushes when I heard a stick being stepped on. My eyes scanned around, looking for any signs of life - mortal or immortal.

To my surprise I spotted another wolf. It was a beautiful. White like myself, with pretty glowing red eyes. To my dismany, it saw me, and began walking towards me. It's paws hit the ground hard. It was sloppy and definitely not graceful.

When we were withing scent distance, I took a big whif through my nose. It didn't smell... normal. It didn't smell like a wolf. Wolves had a distinct scent; kind of like pine and lavender. This 'wolf' just smelled like... fake. Fake!

I growled and pounced on him. He was under my weight, his skin held down my my claws. I snarled, but he just... dissapeared

I felt a tug on my tail, so I yipped and spun around to the smug face of Tyler. Of course.

I focused all my energy on becoming human, and I slowly transformed. Tyler wasn't surprised. He obviously knew it was me.

"What are you doing?" I snapped.

"Just playing hard to get," he said, smiling. He leaned back on a big oak tree that was behind him. I felt a cool breeze, and wrapped my arms around m-- my breath caught in my throat. I didn't wrap my arms around my favourite navy blue winter sweater. I wrapped my arms around my skin.

I screeched and ran behind a big birch tree. The winter snow was cold on the bottom of my human feet, but I would rather not stand in front of Tyler naked.

I heard a little whisper, kind of like a hiss, and a pair of clothes appeared on the ground in front of me. A complete set; sweatpants, t-shirt, oversized sweater, socks, boots, a bra and pair of ladie's underwear.

Why did he have those last two? Where did he get them?

I got dressed, and the clothes fit me perfectly. I happily looked down at the sweater. It was navy blue and had a big brown stain in the bottom right corner. The mark made me laugh; on my sweater I had the exact same stain from a melted chocolate bar--

"Tyler! " I hissed, running into his view. "You snuck into my house?!"

He shoved his hands into his pockets and just shrugged. "Yeah. It's better wearing your own clothes isn't it?"

Well, I couldn't exactly argue with that, so I just put my mouth into an un-readable straight line. I guess this encounter was a good thing though - I learned something about Tyler. My new impression of him was that he was a very attractive, very sneaky pervert (that last part for going through my delicates drawer).

Rose was going to be happy about the new information.

Tyler opened his mouth to say something when he was interrupted by a loud bang. It kind of sounded like... gunfire?

"Um, Lyric? Was that--" Tyler's question was cut off by another sound.

He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me under the protection of the trees. I heard it before I saw it; and I can't say I felt it.

Tyler looked at me. His mouth gaped in horror. I knew our "base" had just been blown up, which was why we were now lying out in the middle of the snow covers forest. I didn't know was he was staring at - my chest? I know he was cute and everything, but honestly--

I gasped, looking down at myself. My sweater was soaked in blood, and there was a huge gash in my stomach. It made me sick.

I looked back up at Tyler, and my breath was sucked away. There was a sharp pain in my back, and I saw the blood red end of a knife sticking through my chest. Tyler reached for me, but was shoved back by nothing.

"You'd better be careful next time, Lyric," an old voice whispered in my ear. An elder? "Oh wait - there won't be a next time."

I heard a gross, high-pitched cackle. The elders had found us. The pain in my abdomen grew stronger. I was dying.

    "Please," I whispered.

There was a chuckle in my ear. "This is what happens when you break the rules. Your pack warned you, but you were too stupid to listen."

"Lyric!" Tyler screamed my name, running towards me. I tried to reach out for him, but my body was useless. My blood was draining; I could barely think aymore.

There was a snicker from behind me, and a knife went flying at Tyler. It hit him directly in the heart. He fell to the ground, his mouth hanging open, his eyes with a dead look in them.

"No!" I screamed. Well, it was more like a formation of my mouth. I couldn't even muster one word. It was pathetic; I was going to be gone soon.

The pain was too much to bear. I couldn't take it anymore.

The last thing I saw was Tyler's dead body as the pain slowly died away and my eyes closed, everything fading to black.

"AH!" I shouted, sitting up in bed.
