[Lucas's POV]

When I saw that my hotel room was right next to Maya's (oh, and Riley's too, I guess...) my heart skipped a beat.

Don't ask me why it did that.

I couldn't tell you.

It's not like I like her or anything.

I looked over my shoulder at her flawless face.

Flawless?

"Well, May, looks like we're neighbors!"

She scoffed. "In your dreams, cowboy," she replied.

Riley leaned in. Her face blocked Maya's, I noticed.

I noticed?

"It'll be so much fun!!" She added, her voice perky. She's always so perky. She's like the epitome of sunshine and rainbows.

Sometimes it makes her seem so superficial.

Unlike Maya. Maya's got substance, secrets. There's more about her to discover.

"Yeah I guess," I replied, trying to act cool. In reality, I was really excited.

"Mm hmm," mumbled Maya. I got the feeling sometimes she could see right through me.

She was special, that I knew for sure.

I had feelings for her, that I also knew for sure.

I just didn't know yet if they were positive or negative.

Or maybe I did know. I just wasn't ready to admit it to myself.

[Farkle's POV]

When I saw the paper I freaked out.

My heart had a little dance party in my chest, disco ball and all.

I was in the room next to RILEY!

I sat down on a bench to calm myself. The other three had a little conversation.

Lucas kept looking at Maya. Hmm.

"Hey guys! Let's go up to our rooms, I called out.

"He's right, we need to get unpacked!" Smiled Riley.

She is such a happy person.

We grouped together and scurried up the stairs to our floor.

[Maya's POV]

Holy macaroni.

The hotel rooms were gorgeous.

Our room had two queen beds, each with 5 big fluffy pillows. The carpet was long and plush. There was a big screen TV, a full-size fridge, and a large armoire.

At the far end of the room, there were two glass French doors that opened up onto a balcony. Beautiful cream-colored curtains were tied back on the far side of each door. Vibrant paintings of Costa Rican seaside were hung on the walls.

I took in every inch of it. I wanted it to soak into my bones, into my soul.

I had never dreamed that a girl like me could ever even lay eyes on a place like this.

Unless I was a maid in a mansion later on, which my mom always says wouldn't surprise her.

"Whoa," I breathed, dropping my single leather suitcase on the ground.

"Yeah," replied Riley. She was just as mesmerized.

"Whoa." I heard Lucas's voice mutter in the other room.

"Yeah," replied Farkle.

I knew this was going to be an incredible two weeks.

I turned my head to the side and gave Riley a little smirk.

She raised her eyebrows at me.

I ran to the bed closest to the balcony and threw myself on top of the feather comforter.

And as I slowly sunk into the cloud-like bed, I laughed a real laugh for the first time in a long time.
