Of course Chan had to start taking his very first steps at six in the morning on a Monday, and of course Seokmin and Seungkwan had to be the only ones up with Chan while everybody was still asleep.

The minute Seungkwan placed Chan down on the rug where his toys seemed like a permanent feature in their living room, the baby decided to clumsily climb onto his feet with the help of the couch behind him.

"What the.."

"Is he.." Seungkwan and Seokmin stared at Chan, then at each other, then back at Chan who seemed determined to not only stand on his legs but to also move his feet. Already one of his hands had let go of its grip on the couch cushion.

"I'll call everybody, stay here with him!" Seokmin dashed up the stairs, nearly slipping a couple of times, but he barely noticed. He hurriedly banged on the first bedroom door nearest to the staircase, which happened to be Jisoo, Jun, and Seungkwan's shared bedroom.

Jisoo was the one who opened the door, eyes still practically closed and hair sticking all over. "Channie is standing up, I think he's going to walk!" Seokmin didn't even wait for a response before pounding heavily on the next door.

To his surprise, Soonyoung and Jihoon's room was unlocked. Their door was always locked, for the sake of everybody else's sanity.

Jihoon was laying on top of Soonyoung, ignoring the tons of space beside him. Soonyoung didn't seem to mind, one arm flung lazily over Jihoon's waist.

"Hyungs!" Seokmin breathed out in a rush after remembering what he was there for. Jihoon startled awake, head popping up at the sudden noise. It would have been funny to Seokmin how his hyung looked like a starfish and a meerkat if Seokmin wasn't so worried that he'd miss Chan's first steps. "Chan, he's walking! In the living room!"

In Seokmin, Wonwoo, and Jeonghan's shared room (with Wonwoo nowhere in sight), the siren didn't take kindly to basically being dragged out of his warm bed, annoyance clear on his face. "Jeonghan hyung! Wake up! Wake up! Oh no, we might've already missed it."

"Yah! Seokmin-ah, I swear I will get Jun to curse your d–"

"Chan's walking!" Seokmin all but yelled.

Then they're both stumbling down the stairs, following Hansol and Minghao who had woken up because of the noise and were only slightly in a rush.

Fortunately, they all got to the living room just in time for Chan to take his first shaky step towards Seungkwan's awaiting arms, both his hands hovering in the air. The baby looked at the floor as if he was baffled by what's happening.

"Come on, Channie, that's good! Keep going!" There were choruses of encouragements all tangling up with more than a couple of cameras already pointing towards the baby. Chan made a delighted noise, arms flapping which made him wobble backwards dangerously. Everybody crowding around him, including Seokmin, instinctively reached their hands out. Chan managed to get his balance back before any of them had to catch him.

One more step, then another, and slowly another. Everybody held their breath until Chan was safely in Seungkwan's arms.

The hollering and cheers might've been too loud this early in the morning, but not one of them seemed to care.

They were all too busy jumping around and cooing at Chan to realize Seungcheol had just entered through the front door, his laptop bag in one hand and his keys jingling in the other. "Why is it so noisy already?" He asked, having to speak louder to be heard.

"Chan took his first steps," Jun replied, caressing Chan's cheek.

Seungcheol looked devastated. "And I missed it?"
