Into the Light [Completed]

Chapter 10

While Olivia, Axel, Ivor, and Radar stayed back with the old Order of the Stone to prepare for the rescue mission, Jesse, Jessica, Petra, and Lukas were making their way to the jungle temple. Being in the forest reminded Jessica of their first adventure in the portal network. She believed it was one of the best things that could have ever happened to the New Order of the Stone.

She remembered how excited Ivor got when he first found out that they had managed to uncover the legendary enchanted flint n' steel. She remembered how Petra dragged Lukas along saying she 'needed a buffer between her and Ivor'. She remembered the laughs that her, Jesse, Petra, and Lukas shared as they watched Ivor's silly little march and listened to his dumb comments as they made their way to the temple. Entering the portal and chasing Aiden down in Sky City before accidentally being thrown off the city in the sky brought shivers down Jessica's spine. Finally getting the flint n' steel back just to find they were lost in the portal hallway, Portal hopping until they eventually managed to get home. Those were the good times.

But then, her thoughts started to wander. She remembered how when they first arrived in the Twin Moons world they were surrounded by a horde of zombies and skeletons. The long run until they finally reached the mansion only to find out it was filled to the brim with traps. Watching as innocent people died and not being able to get to them in time. The intense fight with Cassie Rose that got her adrenaline pumping and her anger boiling.

Then, there was Crown Mesa. The faint memory of spawning in the middle of complete nowhere rushing to her mind. The one life form they found before finding Crown Mesa, being a chipped zombie. The confusion of why he zombie wasn't burning in the sun, and why it was so hard to fight compared to a normal zombie. Finally arriving in Crown Mesa to find it mostly barren, all it's citizens chipped, and a giant computer ordering for the people to attack them. Meeting Harper, who Ivor had a major crush on but would not admit it, and finding out she was PAMA's creator. Helping her defeat PAMA despite the fact that, at any moment, the could be mind controlled and their mission would have failed. Tears streamed down Jessica's face as she remembered how she had to abandon Lukas because she had saved Petra. Removing the Redstone Heart and finding out it was one step closer to finding their was home.

And finally, The Games. The last thing Jessica wanted to think about right now, was those damn games. The first thing that popped into her mind was when Harper pushed them through those dark oak doors yelling 'Don't die!' as they fell in. Landing in the middle of a deadly match of spleef. Lukas and Ivor being eliminated first thing when they realized what exactly was going on. Then the deal, oh that will never be forgotten. Jessica laughs at the fact that she made a deal with one of the most dishonest, pompous jerks she had ever met. Then during the lava run, Petra and Jesse being eliminated really got to her. She was then the only person left on the team, which held a lot of pressure on her shoulders. Meeting Hadrian in the palace just to find out he had Mevia go into THEIR world and capture Axel and Olivia. Oh boy, then the fight. That fight with Hadrian and Mevia had to be one of the hardest things she had to do while in the portal network. Funny thing is, they actually got to banish those two from their own games. But she still couldn't get over the fact that if she had kept Hadrian's deal and purposely lost, her and her friends could have been trapped in that world forever. Suddenly, she was snapped out of her thoughts.

"Jess!" Lukas exclaimed while shaking her like a rag doll.

Jessica shook her head a bit and rubbed her temples, "Huh?"

"What happened? You zoned out for a bit," Lukas asked.

"Nothing, just reminiscing about the past. About our portal network adventure," Jessica answered.

Petra grunted in frustration, "Well, we are here now. So, just forget whatever you were thinking about just for a moment and let's get going. Who knows how long it'll take us to actually save Harper, Otto, and Mevia."
