Baam Pov
I smiled happily to myself, looking forward to our private time together. I could see how Cece's pointy ears had become red from embarrassment, but even that was adorable. Despite her age and all the knowledge she had, Cece was very easy to tease and embarrass- if you knew the right buttons to push.
I gently brushed her jet-black hair with my fingers, enjoying how her shortened locked flowed through my hand. To keep the public from making the connection between Cece and the Red Tanager (famous FUG Slayer), she used magic to shorten her hair and change its colour. She turned her hair back to normal when we were alone, but I found her black hair to be just as beautiful as her white one.
When I walked out of the elevator with Cece in my arms, a group of males in black suits were crowded outside out neighbour, Ja Wangnan's house.
Cece seemed to have noticed as well because she removed her face from my shoulder and set her blood-red eyes upon the scene in front of us. We could hear Ja Wnagnan's scream in pain.
"AAAAAAAARGH!!"
"Now now, our dear customer, you can't just try to leave after borrowing all that money- after all, it'd take you at least a hundred years just to pay it back." Some other male's voice spoke.
"I KNOW!! I'LL PAY YOU BACK!! Once I pass the test, I'll sell everything I have- money, house, jewellery, everything!! Why can't you believe me?!" Wangnan argued.
"Very well. I'll give you one last chance. Sign this."
"Special beauty service... "Skeleton Diet"? Kidney diet, pancreas diet, eyeball diet, heart diet... THIS ISN'T A DIET!! YOU'RE TRYING TO SELL MY ORGANS!!"
His situation was unfortunate, but it was to be expected. He'd borrowed money from the local moneylender, and hadn't been able to pay back since he kept failing the test. If it was me from the past, I would've tried to help. But the last thing I wanted was to somehow end up exposing the fact that Cece was a Demon.
Demons were very rare in the Tower. If the moneylenders found out about her, then they would stop at nothing to capture her. It's only been a year since we got together. There's no way that I'm going to put her in danger, I told myself.
"Baam, wait for me in our room. I'll be right there." Cece muttered, climbing down from my arms.
"But-"
"I have a feeling that he'll be useful to us in the future. Plus, I feel sorry for him. We've been noisy since last night... and we're about to get loud again. Think of it as an apology."
Well, she wasn't wrong about the noise. I nodded, only to have her leave a feathery kiss on my lips. I'll see you again shortly, she mouthed, before working her way into Ja Wangnan's house.
"Hi, could I know how much Wangnan owes you?"
"Who are you? Are you this guy's girlfriend or something?"
"No, no. I'm just his neighbour. My boyfriend and I felt sorry about all the noise we've been making next door, you see, and wanted to pay his loan back as a sign of an apology."
Aww... Cece called me her boyfriend in public... I'm so happy~
"You sure? He owes me quite a lot of money, you know."
"Yes, I'm sure."
"He owes me a total of 50K (Fifty thousand) points. Cough it up, pretty lady."
50K? That's a lot of money... although it's about as much as a drop in the sea compared to all the points Cece has. She's been collecting them from the moment she was born, after all. I thought, continuing the listen to their conversation through the thin wall.
"You're lucky to have such generous neighbours, Ja Wangnan. Pleasure doing business with you, miss. I hope you enjoy your hot night with your boyfriend."
"Oh, I will."
The moneylenders and his lackeys left, leaving Wangnan and Cece alone. She gave him 50K to cover for his living expenses and his next Test- in return for leaving his home for tonight. Our Test was tomorrow afternoon, and Cece knew from experience that I'd be badgering her through the night- so she probably wanted to get him away from all the noise.

"All right, I'm back. Do you want to wash first, or should I?" Cece asked, only to yelp in surprise when I scooped her up into my arms once again.
"Why don't we wash together?" I suggested.
