Anaheim, my new home, thought Alice.

After leaving her hometown, she decided to stay on her own two feet. That is, if she can get a job quickly. With her talent to play the violin and singing, didn't get her enough for a place to stay for the night. It was only enough for some food to survive this hard life on the streets. For the most people, she was just a homeless boy like many others in America. It was a good thing that she wears clothes that hide her gender, short hair and an eye patch also added this extra boyish look, keeping her from harm. No one could tell that she was truly a girl. The only thing that kept her going through the hard times was an old photo of the mighty ducks. Her only treasure she possessed, a gift by her deceased uncle. Alice cared for the old man, despite of not seeing him all too often as a child. She had to keep it safe, otherwise her father would have taken it from her, along with all her other memories of her life, burning them all to ashes.

But that is in the past, her new life should be as gloomy as this one.

The next day, Alice got up early starting her work sooner than others, tuning the violin and warming up her voice. It was the only thing she could invest into to get money. But that faithful day change everything.

All Alice did, was getting new strings for her violin.

Beside spending money for food, she puts aside some extra for her instrument, hiding the cash in her shoes, which she never takes off, not even while sleeping. A tall man entered the place, pushing her aside like she wasn't even there in the first place, "Hello I am here for my order." Not to make a scene, she ignored him. The lady behind the counter smiled sweet at the man, before facing her, "Here you go honey." It was odd to be called something sweet from a stranger, as her father never had any good words left for her. I smiled slightly, letting the words sink in, while this man shoved her aside...again. His size couldn't get passed Alice, as his finger pointed at something behind the counter, "Oh and I want that too."

She had enough of this rude man, leaving the store in silence.

Back on the street, Alice was back to her music, switching the strings of her violin. Unaware that she will have another encounter with that man. Not to sit around in the middle of the road, she went near the alley that she calls her temporary home. Some thugs thought they could use her bedroom for their nasty business, pulling a tall man into the alley. Alice didn't want to get involved into this, wanting to leave, only for her to stop half way. The thugs were threatening the man to slice him up when he won't show all the money he has got. To her surprised, that guy was loaded with cash. But that wasn't the issue for Alice; her instinct for justice had kicked in. Her rages for these guys violence act just made her body react; grabbing the neck of the violin and charged for the guys heads. For a small girl she was used to beat up some people for not getting robbed or sexually abused. Some do not care if you are a bloke or a girl; they grab anything when they are desperate.

The man leaned against the wall, feeling relieved to be alive.

As for Alice, she was devastated...her investment...was in half, "...my violin..." It was extremely old, so it was obvious that the instrument won't survive her strength. It was luck to the man, that she had a chance to get a new one. He introduced himself as Phil Palmfeather, the manager of the mighty ducks. Caught off guard, she dropped the broken instrument, "...mighty ducks..."

"Yes, as for your courage to help me, it is only fair that I help you."

Phil however, didn't see any reason to give her a brand new violin. He went into the pawn shop and bought the cheapest. Alice was supposed to be happy about the replacement, but was far from that. It was worse than the one she had. Disappointed, she followed the manager around. Phil tired to get her to leave but she remained stubborn, even as he threw money in her direction. Taking the cash of the ground, Alice stuck to his back again. She did this all day, even as the manager went into the pub for several drinks. Since someone like Alice wasn't allowed in such a place, she waited outside.
