Chapter 11: Prison Escape

-----Outside Queen Ruby's castle-----

-----Scorpio's Pov-----

As we scoped out for any guards, exits or the queen herself, I could not help but see Amber looking more focused than I've ever seen him. I then heard an eagle fly overhead screech, before it landed on Amber's horn, and started preening its feathers, all the while making little chirps in Amber's ear.

As the eagle finished chirping, he smiled and explained his plan "Ok, so one of my little friends has scoped out every nook and cranny of this forsaken castle, and has found Devil, and Also the queen herself." We all nodded at this information, while in the back of his mind, a plan B was forming like a looming cloud.

"So here is the plan: Plaguemind, Scorpio and I break in through the 'guards quarters', on the western tower of the castle, and move through the halls as stealthily as possible, while Jaws keeps an eye on Devil's cell, making sure no extra guards show up, and if some do, he lures them away and drowns them. Branch will monitor our progress and then if Jaws's body count gets too high. Pale will keep an eye on the queen, no doubt she will likely visit Devil's cell at one point. Any questions?" He asks, clearly thinking of any possible screw ups.

"What about a distraction?" Plaguemind asks, Earning a questioning look from Amber, who looked like he was only half-listening. "I mean if a whole platoon of guards comes by, we could free the other prisoners, letting them be chased as we make our escape." He continued, looking deeply at the small diagram Amber was writing into the dirt, before what he said next made us all smile; "No I doubt they would chase normal prisoners, and let a firescales escape, instead we let Devil have his fun, then burn whatever information they have on us and leave, sparing as many lives as possible. We kill the queen only if absolutely necessary, we don't want the entire kingdom on our asses. Oh and no witnesses"

-----Amber's Pov-----

As we climbed in through the quarters, I could not help but gag at the smell, Even the sewers smell better than this, It's like rotting meat covered in decomposing pickles and bathed in bird droppings. "Oh Moons! Who crawled up here and died?" Scorpio asked, clearly upset by the smell, Plaguemind nodding as well.

As I was about to open the door, we hear footsteps coming in our direction, so we all panicked and hid where ever we could, I hid on one of the support beams on the roof, Plaguemind was hiding under one of the beds, and Scorpio was hiding in a barrel of potatoes. As 5 guards walked in and started taking off their armors, I slowly started balancing on the beam until I was on top of the biggest one, Scorpio slowly and silently slithering his tail out from the barrel and towards 2 of the guards, And Plaguemind was bracing for a guard approaching his hiding spot.

As we all held our breath, I jumped onto the biggest guard, ejecting one of my blades into his eyes and slit his throat, scorpio stung them both in the jugular before knocking them unconscious, and plaguemind slipped his guard, before gutting him with his scythe, leaving the last guard in the corner, begging for mercy, before Scorpio stung him in the neck and hit his head against the corner of the bed, knocking him out for the count. As we stuffed the bodies into beds, making it look like they were sleeping, we all let out the breath we were holding, before regretting taking in the smell again.

As we peeked out of the doorway, we saw no guards and continued on, keeping our senses on alert, everytime we would hear a bunch of guards, we would take cover in any barrels, closet or nearby rooms, avoiding every single guard. Until things got complicated when the dungeons had an extra amount of guards, 16 at least, half of which had some long spears. I looked at the other two and pulled out my barbed throwing knives, Plaguemind following my lead and Scorpio Reaching into his bag, which he has been carrying with utmost care, and pulled out a dragonbite viper, who coiled around his neck and looked at the guards.
