My name is Y/n. Today is the start of my summer vacation. I got accepted to the college of my dreams in Texas. I am so excited! Dad and I have been on a plane bound for Texas for about an hour. We had to be up early to catch our flight, and my Dad fell asleep. I may have fallen asleep myself, but I was honestly bursting with excitement and anxiety. I've never been this far from home before, especially without my parents. To distract myself, I was watching some YouTube videos. Headphones on, I pulled up the latest Unspeakable video. I loved watching their vlogs. They get up to such crazy things. My personal favorite was James. There was just something about him..... Anyway, I was watching their newest vlog, flying through the air, having to Texas. I glanced at the time on my laptop.
"An hour land a half to go," I mumbled to myself. " I might as well get to get some sleep. "
"Ladies and gentlemen, please return your seats to their original position. Please close your trays and fasten your seat belts."
I open my eyes when I hear the flight attendant give her usual lecture to the passengers. I close my tray and fasten my seat belt. I then have to tuck my phone into my backpack/carry-on, instantly regretting not doing this before putting my seat belt on because it feels like my seat belt is cutting me in half.
I hear a small groan come from my Dad, who just woke up. He looks a bit confused, so I point to the seat belt sign above our heads. He nods in acknowledgement, then fastens his seat belt.
The plane is landing. We're in Texas! I am excited and not just for the start of college. You see, I am buying a house. I am buying my own house! My Dad and I had come earlier to see the college, and my Dad and I both agree that those dorms were too small, especially for the work I did.
You see, I'm a youtuber. My YouTube channel is kinda small, but I have a decent following of 10,000 subscribers. My channel was nothing crazy. Just me playing Minecraft with the occasional baking video or vlog. Nothing crazy. Nothing like the amazingly crazy content of Unspeakable, Gabe, and James.
After travelling a bit, we finally get to the house I was buying. It's in a really nice neighborhood. Honestly, the only reason I bought the house is because of the kitchen. I needed a large one for my baking videos.
"You all set up?" my Dad asks me, after lugging all my luggage in from the rental car. I also have a mattress that we managed to stuff in the car. He had already helped me carry the mattress upstairs into my room.
"Yeah, I should be," I reply.
"Well, if you're sure, I'll head to my hotel for the night. "
"You leaving tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I have to get back home. "
"I'll be okay," I say as I give my Dad a big hug.
"I'll call you when I get home."
"Alright Dad. Be safe! "
"Same to you."
With that, my Dad walks out the door. I slowly turn around in the entryway of my house.
"Oh my gosh, " I breath. "This place is awesome!"
When you first walk in, there is an open area right in front of you. To the right of that is a small hallway that leads to the garage. There was also a small broom closet next to the hallway. Walking through the doorway at the far end led me to the kitchen/living room area. The kitchen was beautiful! There were so many cabinets, some with glass doors with a dark wood lattice on them. The living room was bare, but I spotted a place for a TV, if I could afford one. It also has an island, perfect for my tripod when I filmed. At the opposite end of the living room was a door that, upon further inspection, led to a bathroom. Once I went upstairs, I first walked to the right. There I found the master bedroom with a connected bathroom. Crossing the bridge from the one half of the upstairs to the other half, I turned right. That led me to a spare bedroom with another connected bathroom at the end of the hallway. Halfway down that hallway, I saw another door. That door led me to a spare room that was just perfect for my office. Walking back downstairs, I spread my arms out wide and sigh. I have a house all to myself. Though I am hours away from my parents and have no idea what I am getting into, I am excited for what life has in store. To me, it's worth it.
